Bonus Short Story: Kaelan pt. 4

It was hard to get out of the house without my parents noticing Flutter, but we managed to sneak out. I took her back to the spot where I found her.

"There? In that bush?" Flutter asks, pointing at it.

"Yup. You were right there, cute and fluffy." I smirk.

Her cheeks turn crimson. "Stop calling me cute."

"But you were cute when you were that small creature," I say and shrug.

Flutter's eyes turn dark. "I am not cute anymore?"

A small smile teases my lips. Ah, someone is trying to fish for compliments now. "You are okay, I guess."

"I'm okay?" Flutter looks at me incredulously, "I'll have you know that I'm much more than just okay."

I raise an eyebrow at her. "Oh really? And what makes you so special?"

She steps closer to me, her eyes blazing. "Well, for starters, I'm not just a cute little creature. I'm a fierce and independent woman who can take care of herself."

I chuckle, enjoying the spark in her eyes. "You actually aren't. You don't even remember your own name."
