"How could you say that out loud?" I scolded, my face contorted in shock as I stared back at him.

"What am I just saying things the way they are? It is very obvious that I want you, so why would I have to lie about it like some teenager? I'm a grown man who knows what he wants," Drake explained, his straightforwardness catching me off guard.

"But you can't just go around saying stuff like this. It's not appropriate," I said, feeling my cheeks burning like a tomato.

"You're my mate, aren't you?" He asked. "So what is inappropriate about telling you that I want you in every way?"

"You know why?" I added, my voice trembling.

"Because I'm with your mother," he said, rolling his eyes at me. "I know you've told me that reason over and over again, and honestly, I'm tired of your excuses."

"I'm not giving you excuses," I said, trying to defend myself.

I just can't hurt my mother.

"You're trying to avoid taking responsibility," he said, his words cutting through my defences.
