My eyelids fluttered open, and for a moment, everything was a blur of white. I tried to move, but my body felt heavy as if it had been asleep for a very long time. Gradually, the shapes in the room began to sharpen, and I could make out the familiar figure of my mother, Madeline, sitting by my bedside. Her eyes were filled with tears, and she clutched my hand tightly.

"Mom?" My voice was weak and raspy.

"Yes, sweetheart, it's me," my mother replied, her voice choking with emotion. "You're going to be okay. I'm here with you. I'm so glad you're awake, "

My eyes welled up with tears, and a weak smile graced my lips. "I love you, Mom."

"I love you too, more than anything," my mother whispered, and I could hear the joy in her voice.

"It's a wonderful moment, Madeline. To think that was all we needed to wake her up, I'll call the doctor to let them know she's awake." She said as she rushed out of the room to go get the doctor.
