Chapter Four

I woke up to the chirping of birds and the rays of sun on my face. I thought to myself " Today seems it will be nice". I quickly got up as I looked at the time on my donut shaped alarm clock.

"I'll get late if I don't leave soon"

I quickly went to the living room to see if Mrs Esther had helped me to prepare Asher for school. I really hoped he was. As I dashed into the dining, I nearly slipped on the floor when I looked up to see Mrs Esther.

"Oh dear, you have to stop running in the house else you'll injure and I know you'll be wondering where Asher is, he's upstairs getting his bag to head for-"

I heard a horn outside of which I guessed is the bus.

"Asher, the bus is here. Be fast " Mrs Esther shouted.

As I mouthed a ' thank you' to her, Asher came running downstairs in black jeans and a shirt that said ' rock the world like a stage' in white bold letters and his curls dancing.

"Morning sis, off to school. Love you" as he pecked me.

"Enjoy your day". I said running upstairs to get ready as he slammed the front door.

"Be careful dear" she shouted after Asher. She turned to me "I'll make your breakfast and pack you lunch".

" Thanks " as I stepped into the shower after I've tossed my clothes in the dirty basket.

After a nice warm bath, I walked to my dresser with towel wrapped on my chest and hair as I looked for what to wear and finally settled with a faded blue jeans that were loose on me, a grey t-shirt and white sneakers.

I wore my lingerie in a haste as I put the outfit on in front of my mirror and then left my blonde curls in a low bun and left the few strands that refused to stay put on my face.

I took in my appearance in the mirror. I know I have curves but I don't really want any guy attracted to me 'cos I have a lot on my plate right now.

My curls is a signature look that runs in the family. I wondered if I had other siblings how they'd look like. I shook the thoughts as I paid more attention to my grey eyes which I got from my mum. I was her carbon copy.

I grabbed my phone and grabbed my bag as I sent Carmen a text that I'll be coming to school today. She was so excited and let me know she was coming. I get her excitement though as I haven't been in school for two days.

I finally got to speak with Mr Blackwood and he concluded that the funeral of Nana is to be held next tomorrow which is Saturday. I headed to the kitchen to quickly eat my breakfast before Carmen comes.

When I finished eating, I took my lunch just in time as Carmen beeped her horn.

"Mrs Esther, I'm gone"

"Oh dear, do have a nice day and try to smile more" Mrs Esther shouted from the laundry room.

" Yeah yeah"

I walked out of the house and then hoped in her car as I managed to get the door open. I smiled as she was just rambling about missing me and drove out the garage heading off to Brimstone College, one of Jon Bellion songs was playing in the background.

Some minutes later, we arrived in school and parked in my favourite spot under some trees. Even when the sun come out later, the shade is still there.

I choose this place for Carmen. I came out of the car picking all I needed for today and I didn't know why I felt tensed but breathing in the smell of nature just made me calm instantly.

I walked towards the doors as everyone else were busy with their phone or friends as some guys whistled Carmen's way. She just ignored them and hung her hands on my shoulders.

"You looking good today babe" one of her classmates in music class, Jenny commented.

"Thanks Jen" she replied.

I moved in the crowd with my mind going haywire when someone nearly made me trip. I turned in astonishment not seeing Carmen only for someone to jump on my back.

She really looked good today with her wine colored dress that was a little loose but showed her nice shape. It complimented her straight red hair, she wore it with brown sandals I got her for her nineteenth birthday.

"Hey babe, you're drooling" she said.

"Nah, you ain't sexy enough for me" I joked.

" That hurts" she pouted making her look so cute.

" You know I didn't mean it" I comforted her as the bell rang for the beginning of lectures.

We had all classes in common except she was in music class while I was in art class we had History this morning as Mr Collins stood with his no nonsense face rambling about the Mediterranean sea blah blah blah. I was leaning on the window looking outside when I noticed two guys step in the class.

"Oh..... Bet- Mr Mason and Jason, it's so nice to have you back from your trip". Mr Collins stuttered.

I was amazed at how he stuttered. Who would ever thought he would be afraid of someone. He bowed slightly that anyone who didn't pay much attention won't notice but what amazed me more was Carmen.

I'm sure I heard her say " MATE"in a low voice I've never heard her before. What did she mean by" Mate"? I guessed I'll ask her after school.

The guys looked much alike except that one had copper streaks on his jet black hair while the other was black all through. Mason I guessed was a little bit tan more than Jason but both had the same golden eyes. As I was thinking if this was normal, my heart stopped when I saw another guy step in.

He was macho looking with his muscles mocking the blue t-shirt he wore that did not try to hide the biceps. He had chocolate brown hair, a tattoo I didn't quite get on his left arm, he looked 6'1 in height but what attracted me to him were the forest green eyes.

We stared at each other for a while before I removed my eyes and wondered why I felt drawn to them.

I seemed lost in those eyes as well as the other girls in the class when Mr Collins found his tongue.

"Alp- I mean Mr Kyle, I see you tagged along. Welcome, please have your seats". He directed them as he continued teaching like nothing ever happened.

The Kyle guy was just staring at me that I won't remember anything from this class if you ask me later because I stared back.

"Did you see those guys? They look good especially Mason" Carmen purred looking at Mason.

I stared at Kyle as I mumbled "what a weirdo".

She furrowed her eyebrows and asked who.

"The Kyle guy" I replied as I rolled my eyes praying for the class to end.

"Who knows? Maybe he likes you" she whispered.

" In his dreams" I scoffed. "But have they been in this class or rather school cos I haven't seen them before"

"Yeah they've been. Just that we didn't pay notice or have u forgotten the guy Lola the witch always warned the girls to keep off from?" She said.

The witch is what we call this Lola girl. Slender with fake blonde hair and her ever furious red nails who dates the most popular guys in school so she'll be popular too. How could I forget.

After a while, lunch came and I ate my sandwich Nanny Esther made for me as Carmen went over to new boyfriend, Mason table with his twin and Mr weirdo, Kyle who wouldn't stop staring. I got up annoyed and went to art class early.

Everything went fast and boom, classes over. I went quickly to my baby not bothering to look for Carmen as I'll text her later at why she behaved strange in class today.

I drove off to Cristie's Boulevard where I lived few blocks from school. I walked up straight to my room as I reached home and flopped on the bed as those green eyes taunted me before I got frustrated and headed to the kitchen to get some food.
