28. Danger

"What do you mean suspect? This must be a mistake detective" I say, he looked liked whatever I said to him would just go into one ear and out the other.

"I was with my mother the night of the murder, I watched the murderer shoot her down," I protested, the memory of that night creeping into my mind. From what I've heard, if Reynolds pegged you as a suspect in a case he would stop at nothing to pin you down "I was the one who called the police." I admit.

He furrows his eyebrows in confusion "You called the police? When? We haven't gotten any call regarding a murder for the last two weeks"

It was my turn to make a face of confusion"What do you mean? But someone took my call, a man, he talked to me"

"Listen, whoever you talked to wasn't one of us There's no record of the phone call you made to the police whatsoever," He says as a matter of fact. "If you even called the police." He adds a tinge of suspicion to his words.

"Are you suggesting I'm lying?" I ask incredulously.

"Who knows?
