31. Fallen angel

"Giovanni—"

I was cut short as a wave of men burst into the restaurant, their presence immediately commanding attention. My breath caught in my throat as I registered the glint of firearms in their hands, all pointed at one target.

Giovanni.

"What the hell!" I exclaimed, my voice laced with disbelief and fear as panic surged through me. I was suddenly grabbed by one of the men who stopped me from moving, his grip on me so tight, that I felt suffocated.

"Get your fucking hands off her," Giovanni says dangerously. The tension in the room thickens as his words carried so much weight.

Talia, ever the picture of composure, greeted the chaos with a smirk, her eyes dancing with amusement. "Looks like someone's not too happy to see me," she quipped, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she observed Giovanni's fury with detached amusement. She raised her hand and I was released. I took a deep breath and tried not to slump to the ground.

"He's unarmed, why are you doing this?" I yell at her.
