Blast from the Past

Ember's POV

There was nothing else that I wanted to do more than run away and hide somewhere then recoup before returning. I was overwhelmed by the sheer display of love. I smiled at him when I looked at the car.

"I want to give it a spin!" I yelled and ran through the door and he followed me.

"Easy...I hope you can drive and not bash my latest baby." He said.

I shot him a smile. " You don't need to worry, I'll return it in one piece, I should be worried about dying instead. But I won't."

I was happy, life was good. I was running on a long fuse, excitement coursed through my veins, and after a long time, I could finally say that I was happy. I was utterly free.

"You look like a kid in a candy store."

"Oh my God, this is more than being in a candy store. This is owning the freaking store and I'm so happy about that. I can't wait to drive it around town when everyone can see it. Is it automatic?" I asked as I turned on the ignition.
