Chapter 73: Weakened resolution

Daruis's pov

"Death to the Witch spawn," Saltos commanded, and I felt the monster's heart fill with joy.

They proceeded into the portal and rushed into the forests. The wolves all around tried to fight back, but they could not withstand them. They could not fight off the avalanche of destruction that was Saltos. He was riding a horse of death and destruction, and my people died in their thousands.

"You!!" a voice yelled out in shock. I turned to the monster and looked at him. It was no monster; it was a friend, someone whom I had once known and had called family.

"Jake," I said in shock.

"I could not believe it when they told me when they said so much to me. You who I thought…"

He was cut short by a spear to his heart. The wood was exposed from the front of his chest, and blood splattered from his mouth.

"Goddess have mercy." He groaned before he fell to the ground. Nessa looked back at me with a proud look on her face.
