Ezra's POV

"Stop overthinking," Gia said.

We are already here in our house, but Laura's words still stuck on my mind. I darted my gaze at her to answer her.

"I'm not," I said.

Gia rolled her eyes at me and cross her arms iver her chest. "It's obvious that you are," she replied.

I sigh. Who wouldn't?

Well, it's true that her words bothered me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath to calm mysef, however, my conversation with Laura earlier flashed in my mind.

"No one's dragging you down... because you are already on the bottom."

I do not even know why I said that. Maybe I just got frustrated on the fact that Jessica did not mention her name during the trial and let herself take the blame. Although it was indeed her fault for making her daughter hurt herself, but if she's really sorry for her daughter, she should have told everyone everything.

"That would be unfair to someone who couldn't shift yet," Laura said and laughed.

My brows furrowed. So what is she trying to say?
