I could feel the distance lingering in my heart. Despite how hard I tried to ignore it, I could feel it at the depth of my heart.

Kayla returned a different person and we couldn’t place our hands on the best way to go about the change. She was certainly pissed at us because of how we abandoned her at a point where she really needed us. However, how were we meant to tell her that we did what we did in order to save her life since our father already threatened to kill her if we go after her.

We couldn’t explain this to her because none of us had the nerves to do so. Doing so would make it look as though we were cowards who couldn’t come over and fight for our mate, despite the threat.

This evening, I was taking a stroll around the pack house when I caught sight of Kayla sitting at a corner, lost in thoughts and wearing a massive frown. One could tell that she has a lot in her mind and whatever it was disturbed her to the core.

I wore a smile as I folded my hands to my chest
