Chapter 18: Confusion and Guilt

Anna walked into her house, threw her keys and purse down on the table, and collapsed into her living room sofa. Her mind had been racing as she drove home, trying to sort out the differences between her relationships with Alan and Ethan. She had felt wonderful being with Alan at the beginning, and she was feeling wonderful now at the beginning with Ethan. Would things go bad for her and Ethan in the same way it did for her and Alan?

The problem was that she just didn't know. "I can't go through all that ever again," she said aloud to Sammy, who had jumped onto her lap, purring. "You're no help. You act all loving and all you want is more food," she laughed as she got up and headed to the kitchen.

Looking at her phone, she saw a string of texts from Kelly. Most of them asked if she was home yet.

'Home,' she texted back.
