CHAPTER 38: THE REAL FACES

KATIE’S POV

“Please sit, ma'am,” the blond haired police inspector said to me, motioning to a chair opposite his.

I glanced back at the policeman who had led me in, a bit scared. This was the first time I would be questioned, and I didn't know what to expect.

He gave me a slight nod before walking away. Turning to look at the blonde inspector, I noticed he had a stoic expression on his face, and I couldn't help but sigh before settling down, my hands folded calmly on my lap.

“Our conversation will be recorded.“ He informed before pushing the button of the recording device on the table. “Who is Maverick Griffin to you?“

“He's my husband,” I answered.

“According to the marriage files, you're his second wife. Can you tell me the circumstances surrounding your marriage?“
