CHAPTER 52: LUCK IS MY MAN

KATIE’S POV

My phone vibrated, and I pulled it out hurriedly. I was already expecting a call from Doris.

“Doris,” I whispered, tilting my head a little and doing a rather lousy work of acting like a regular civilian who wasn't running away from the law.

“Listen, Katie,” Doris immediately went to the point as though she had little time. “A friend of mine is already at the airport waiting for you. He's standing beside a silver sedan, and when you meet him, I want you to tell him this.” She whispered a code, and I wrote it down on the hem of my dress.

Not that I even had to write it since, at this moment in my life, I could hardly forget important details like this.

“From there, you will be given everything you need to escape,” Doris continued. “I believe in you, Katie.”

I wiped off the tears that had gathered in my eyes. I shouldn't draw attention to myself like this, but I couldn't help feeling emotional.

Deep down, I knew I did nothing to deserve Doris' good deed. She was just about t
