CHAPTER IX.

At this moment, I felt like Cinderella, so scared of everything that was happening, caught shamelessly in my lie. After breakfast, I came up with a silly excuse to rush out of that house, and now I was with my friend Rachel, her brother, and a friend.

"Now what are you going to do?" Rachel says, more angry than ever, giving me a slap on the arm. "This is insane!" she complains, taking a sip of her tequila.

"So... Was it just a one-night stand?" Benjamin asks. "How long do you plan on being Jayden's bed warmer?" he exclaims, looking at me with a mix of anger and disappointment.

"Don't go overboard, Benjamin!" Lucia interjects, staring intently at him.

"We... we just..." I start, but what was I going to say? Just what? How could I explain that? "We... We made a mistake. It was a mistake."
