"Raymond" Grace groaned weakly as she pulled Raymond's shirt. She had woken up like a little while ago.
"Are you okay?" Raymond panted nervously. He moved nearer to her. He checked her out frowning at all the bruises on her.
"Where are we?" Grace looked around the room scantily. She was definitely clueless about their location.
"Where we are. We are in the lion's den" Raymond cried.
"There is nothing to worry about....we are the lions. Aren't we?" Grace laughed. Raymond stared at her like she was crazy. If she could find this funny, then she was completely crazy.
Raymond didn't want to laugh with her at first but he couldn't hold it,watching Grace contagious laughter.
"They will be here soon" Grace declared. She was not bothered about their present state in the least. She was just happy to see Raymond again.
"Who are they?" Raymond asked. He was becoming more relaxed too. He should be, if Grace that was supposed to be afraid, wa
Raymond was scared like hell. He peeped again. Grace's body was still there lifeless on the ground. She was not moving. Now that Grace was dead, he had nothing else to live for. They should just die together. He breathed in and out heavily like he was preparing for a fight. He stood up and put off his shirt. A bullet straight to the already broken heart to send him out of this world. He wanted to be with Grace wherever she was."She's getting up" one of the men shouted before Raymond could get out of his hiding place. He hid back to peep through again. Grace was already on her feet. There were many bullet holes on her leather shirt. Those were where the bullets had hit her. She looked more aggressive like a mad dog. Her breathing pace was too fast.Raymond was delighted to see Grace alive. He couldn't wait for this to be over and check if she was okay."We need her alive" York walked in between the gunned men to stand face to face with
Raymond stood still in front of the mirror in the bathroom. He believed he wanted to do the right thing but something kept hindering him. He ran his fingers through his hair speedily scattering its pattern. He breathed heavily with irregular paces."I have to do it, I have to do it" he kept muttering to himself. He looked down at the wash hand basin at his waist level. In there were all the remaining vials of the vaccine he invented. There was no more reason to keep them. It had served it purpose more than once. It cured all the infected in the Elite School. It also saved him from the abductors by turning Grace into a monster. And that was the disadvantage. It seemed to be killing Grace slowly. She shouldn't be made a monster to save or protect him. It would have been better if it was him that was turning into that. He had drank the vaccine to become something like that but it just never happened.Grace might know this was dangerous for her but was ignori
"I will take it, but this man isn't what you think. He's a gentleman. You're just spooked" Grace said uncooperatively. She signaled to Raymond to open the door.Raymond opened the door and dashed out quickly to stop the man from attempting to enter. He stood in front of the man without saying anything. He checked him out from hair to toe."I'm Stuart Jenkins" the man held out his hands for a handshake with him. Raymond shook his hands without saying anything."Raymond Kirby, right?" the man asked like he needed a confirmation. He was definitely stunned by Raymond.Raymond acknowledged by nodding his head. He had gotten over being surprised when strange people knew his name. He was a hero recently, an unsung one though. His acts would still remain and be regarded as heroic."I'm very sorry, Mr. Stuart Jenkins. I will like you to turn your back at me for me to check you. Please,I don't want you to feel bad about that. It is just due to re
Mr. Cypher put on a headphone. He was talking to a man who's head filled the whole screen of the laptop in front of him."There won't be a room for any mistake" he spoke to a small mic connected to the headphone hanging around his mouth."Is there anything you will need that escaped your mind before and you just remembered not long ago?" he asked calmly."And you are not in need of more men?" he said again after another brief pause for listening."Then there won't be any thing to worry about" he continued after watching the man for a brief moment of mouth wild shake."That's a promise and I like it very much" he said after another pause. "Then let's talk again after the party" he removed the headphone and turned to face Karl.Karl had been waiting for him to complete the video call. He looked very scared and doubtful."What do you say, your important message is?" Mr. Cypher questioned Karl."He is alive" Karl
Some hours later. Raymond and Grace we're still seated as they were. Raymond was looking tired."Very soon, it will be our turn"Raymond shook his head. He was talking to Grace and unknown to him, she had dozed off. He gently put her head on his shoulder." That's one essence of snoring. If you do snore. I wouldn't be talking to a sleeping girl" he was disappointed that she wasn't listening to him. But he wouldn't wake her from her sleep."It's good you don't snore. It will be an embarrassment for me here right now" he kept talking to her."And how many hours of the day do you want to spend sleeping, huh?" he questioned angrily."Sleep all you want, I don't care" he lied, he wanted her awake so they could keep talking to while away the time."No, no, no, stop" Grace made a muffled scream from her sleep. It seemed she had a scary dream."It's okay. I'm here with you. You're safe in my hands" he grabbed and kissed her forehead. He p
The gunshots become more intense more than just gun fights, like a war front. Everyone ran helter skelter, unsure of which direction to face."I don't think this is a drill" Grace hugged Raymond tightly. They were stuck in their position."If it is one then it is a hell of drill" Raymond held tight on her too. They weaved right and left every seconds to avoid being bumped on by the people running around."What could be happening? Third World War?" she looked directly in his eyes, like she would see her answer there."No, of course, not Third World War." Raymond disagreed. She was worse at guessing. This was not bad enough to be described as a global war."Okay, whatever it is, I wish it ends quickly" she prayed heartily, closing her eyes."Ends quickly? Are you saying we all die right now?" he asked with a solemn face. He wasn't ready to die."No. I mean the shooting stops, not our lives" she clarified smacking his chest. It seemed li
The security operative opened the door to a room. Everyone went in."Wait, wait" Raymond screamed as he ran along with Grace towards the room."Faster" the security said sternly. Grace and Raymond scurried into the room and the security bolted the door immediately."I will want everyone to be as quiet as possible. We will leave the building when it is safe to exfil. But right now, we don't want anyone outside knowing we are in this room, okay?" some of the people nodded.Grace and Raymond were still panting hard. They were worn out by their just concluded race."I can't remember the last time I ran like that" Raymond said breathing heavily. He looked at Grace. She couldn't catch her breath yet. She sat down with one hand to her chest and the other on the floor."Lay on your back, baby" Raymond laid her down putting her head on his lap. "Deep breaths, you know we have work to do" he caressed her on the arm."I'm okay" she s
"You talked about sitting ducks earlier. I didn't get you then. Now I know what that means" Mayor Mount said regrettably. He was talking like he had lost all hopes. He could see bullets flying past in front of their eyes where they were. Mayor Mount and Reyes both stood against the wall opposite the elevator like they were glued to it. They were only covered by a doorway. They dared not bend outward or it would be another story that would be told about them. They wanted to use the elevator and get to the basement but they were cornered on the other side. Reyes was providing cover fire. They were literally stuck and that was what Mayor Mount believed. Reyes had not given up yet."I think the best thing is for you to cover my rear right now or you will understand what sitting ducks means better in the next few minutes" Reyes said taking pauses at intervals to shoot."Just let us surrender, we are only two. They are like fifteen, twenty or even thirty. I'm no
