Ellie's Pov

I stared at Nick momentarily before taking his hand and dragging him back into the elevator. "Come with me," I said firmly and tightened my grip on him so he couldn't think of running away. "Sean was so mean to me earlier."

Nick, who had wanted to let go of my grip, now fell silent and looked at me. The elevator slowly descended after he pressed the close button. No one entered during that time other than the two of us. Although we didn't see eye to eye, I knew how his gaze looked when he watched me, yearning for me, who was hiding behind his many masks.

"What did Sean do to you?" asked Nick casually and mockingly. "You must have overreacted in front of him for him to get annoyed with you."

"So what?" I asked defiantly, looking at Nick sharply as he found me guilty of little. Sean was worse for having a little boy on his arm before I could have him. "I was just trying to get Sean's attention because he never gives it to me, even in normal situations."
