Chapter 2

NICKLAUS

Trying to get up, I finally got my balance. The owner of the bar came to me begging on the lady's behalf, telling me that he'd fired her and she won't be coming there again. I pulled off some shitty stuff there. How dare she. I smirked. She has no idea what she's gotten into. I looked at the bodyguards who were still gaining their balances, cleared my throat and headed to the car. One of my guards paid the man and we drove off, in a grave silence. We reached the mansion and I went straight to the pool side. That lady really messed with me. I called Marshall and asked him to do a background check on the lady. I described her as I could and hung up.

That Lady, everything just seemed off with her. Why would she reject such an offer. She disgusts me. And now that she doesn't have a job, she'd prolly be looking for one starting from tomorrow. She's got some nerves I admit. I sat down by the poolside as a maid brought me wine. With everything that happened in the bar today, I still can't forget the fact that Alex would be coming So soon.

Leaving the wine on the table, I left to my room, sat on the sofa and stared at the family picture across my room. It's large enough to fit in the whole wall. I keep remembering those memories… the sound of my phone ringing brought me out if my thoughts

" Ringggggggg" guess Marshall found something already.

" What is it" I asked impatiently

" I ran a background check on her, I found two different ones. I can't tell which I should believe sir"

" Come to my house with both, first thing tomorrow morning" I said and hung up.

I was woken up by the sounds of the bird and the light of the sun. Opening my eyes, I had to squint. Getting off bed, I wondered why I had left the curtains open. Stretched a little bit and finally went to get some water to drink. Then my phone started ringing and I wondered who it was so early in the morning. I didn't bother to check it. Must be some disturbing spam calling.

Went to bathe and cook myself in the bathroom. "It's nice to have peace" I said out loud to myself in the bathroom. After what seemed like a lifetime, I got out on my grey bathrobe and checked my phone which was still ringing. Damn it was Marshall, what is it again this time?

" What" I asked firmly

" You asked me to come first thing this morning sir and they won't let me in despite knowing I'm your assistant" he grumbled over the phone

" Oh. I'll tell someone to get you".

Called a maid and told her to allow him in. Marshall walked up the stairs looking worked up with his overweight body. I stood by my door, waiting for him to get upstairs but he refused to come in.

" Do I always have to ask you to come in, sometimes I mistake you for a vampire?" I said and moved to sit on my bed, continuously flipping my hair 'cause it kept falling on my face. I glanced at the door and he was still there. With a glance over the door, I saw he was still standing there. " Seriously? Okay come in"

" Thank you sir". These are the papers you asked for. He handed me the two documents. " Her name is McCall Jessica. In both. But the history is not quite clear". He pointed at the second paragraph with a swollen and cubby finger, I would recommend him to cut it off but I won't tell him that. "Here, she never went to any school, she is an orphan who never got adopted and later in 2007, she started living on her own. It shows here that the sisters gave her some money to live on her own. That was St Micheal orphanage home. The record says she worked at a bar since then and recently got fired."

I swallowed hard and smirked. Though I felt guilty. No I shouldn't. " Okay so the second one?"

" The second one is weird and complicated. It says she went to Berlin high school. The most expensive high school in the City." He looked into my eyes. " Your high school. And after that, she was gone, she didn't finish high school, it was as if she never went there. Never existed. I went through a lot to get this info"

I took a good look at her pictures in the documents. Taking a close look, she looked like…. could it be…..nope. can't be. I kept 'em on my bed. " I'm no more interested in that lady's misfortune. So I have any meeting today" I said, moving up to get dressed.

" Sir…you won't do anything?" Marshall said with a shaking voice. Sounded like he put a lot into getting that information.

" No meeting?" I asked plainly.

" You have a board meeting at the company by 10am" he said slowing and sluggishly, bowing his head in disappointment

Two hours had passed and I was all dressed. Wearing a gray suit and a black shoe. Knotting my tie perfectly. I stood in front of the mirror and combed my hair back, wondering what to do with it. Decided to just let it fall on my shoulders.

Walking out, I knew something was wrong, so I checked myself again. "Aha my silver ring" I almost forgot. Walking out with Marshall as all the servants bowed, I walked down to my car and saw the two body guards of the day before.

" Marshall, you drive" I tossed him the keys and sat at the back of the car.

While Marshall was driving me to the company, I told him" check on the girl everyday and report to me. If she tries to get a new job, make sure she doesn't" I said and smiled. She's really going to regret it.

I got to the office and went straight to my office, snubbing all the ladies drowning at my beauty. They all looked like beasts. I wonder why I have such ugly girls in my company. Sitting on my couch in my large office, Marshall came in.

" Sir, you've got lots of appointments today. You're meeting with the board by 11am, you want to check through the records and shares rate by 1pm, you have lunch by 3 o'clock, and swimming by 4 o'clock….in your house of course" he said and crossed his hands across the tablet that was with him.

" Where in your tab does it say that I'll get to smoke" I demanded. He looked worried and didn't answer me. He just bowed his head. "Aiit, I'll let it slide this time. Go and do the other thing".

He looked at me with a quite confused face. " Sir?"

" The other thing. Do I need to say anything? "I guess he realized what it was because he nodded with a plain face.

" You're dismissed" I said and went to sit at my desk. Marshall is a good and loyal guy I'd admit. He's also a friend to me, well almost. He'll do just well. I can't wait to see how this would turn out for this little Miss Jessica. I smiled and focused on my schedule.
