Thomas texted me all the time and almost always made me laugh. Yes, it was really a bit crazy that we got along so well, but he always had time to write and after all he was the one who wanted to meet us all again on Friday. It really was as if he had never been away.

Jayden also checked in with me every day. Sometimes more, sometimes less, so I knew when he was busy and when he was having a leisurely day. I told him about Friday, but he already knew about Debby and avoided the topic of Thomas completely. But it was okay with me before there was an argument afterwards.

My cell phone rang Thursday afternoon, but it wasn't Jayden. No, I was totally surprised when I read "Thomas" on my display. I stood in the kitchen and my mom unpacked the groceries next to me.
