39. A Night On The Cliff

I walked slowly down the stairs, conscious of the fact that Gwaine’s gaze was fixed on me. He watched me in awe, like he hadn’t seen anyone look that good. I got to the bottom of the stairs and placed my hand in his outstretched arm.

“You look beautiful, Catherine.” He said, helping me down the last of the stairs.

“Thank you.” I replied, flashing a smile in his direction. He turned and walked towards the door.

“Where are we going?” I asked him he paused, looking at me like he hadn’t thought of that question until I mentioned it just now.

“ I don’t have anywhere in mind” he said, stroking my arm before he continued, “let’s just see how it goes.” I laughed, covering my mouth with my hand.

“You got me a dress so we could see how it goes?” I asked, ending my sentence with an accent I hoped was his. He smiled at my fake attempt to mimic him.

“Let’s go for a stroll then.” He said, taking my hand and leading the way. From the corner of my eyes, I spotted Nicole and Beatrice, one of the maids
