11. Forging A New Bond

“Connor?” I repeat dumbly. Who the hell is that? My voice seemed to bring him out of his trance. His gaze snapped towards me, eyes widening slightly. His lips curled into a small smile, fake one. “Ah, sorry. He is...an acquaintance of sorts, not very welcomed.” His lips tugged up looking more like a grimace than a placating smile.
“Is...he dangerous?” I couldn’t resist asking. “No,” he replied, a little too fast which always meant the contrary. I forced a smile which turned into a nervous chuckle for some reason. “Uh..okay?” I silently exited the library because I did not want to ponder on coming across someone potentially dangerous.
