64. A Stranger's Help

Athena's POV

I woke up to the sound of wheezing kettle and the smell of strong black coffee. For a while I enjoyed the soothing smell, but a crashing sound followed, causing me to jerk out of my sleep.

The room looked unfamiliar, having a dull shade of cream and an unusually large window that could allow me jump through, effortlessly. It revealed a thick forest ahead, with small clearing around the house.

I felt a sharp pain on my neck, making me flinch, memories of the previous night flooding my mind as I got up from the bed.

I looked around for a possible weapon. I detached an iron rod attached to the wall, which had some clothes hanged on it.

I opened the door slowly, tears already flowing from my eyes as I remembered Cosmo. The thought that I might have lost her tormented me.

Someone had tried to take her the previous night before I fell unconscious.

I saw the back view of a man immediately I stepped out of the room. He faced the window in the kitchen.
