Erin’s POV“Try not to move too much!” The nurse said as I attempted to sit up in bed. My heart was racing at lightning speed against my ribcage, making me want to throw up. I wasn’t sure I would be able to hold in the contents of my stomach. Where the hell was Gavin? What were these rumors about spreading across the hospital? Was Gavin responsible for this? “Where’s…” My voice trailed off as sharp pain coursed through my throat, causing me to wince. “It’s probably better if you didn’t speak for right now,” the nurse said with a timid frown. “Let me get the doctor to take a look at you.” I didn’t want the doctor, I wanted to know where Henry and Gavin were. But when I tried to speak again, I was met with a round of painful coughs instead. Tears wedged in my eyes as pain coursed through my body. I lay my head back down and waited for the doctor to make an appearance. “Glad to see you are awake,” the doctor sa
Henry’s POV“What do you mean she’s the one who abuses you?” Henry asked, unsure if this man was being serious or not. How could a small woman the size of Judy hurt such a large and successful man?Even in the human world, it was a strange concept.Mr. Conrad rubbed his aching temple with his fingers and sighed in defeat.“She knows how to get to me,” Mr. Conrad said, shaking his head with dismay written all over his face. “But she’s insane. She’s always talking to herself, and her temper is out of control. I won’t fight her back and she takes advantage of that. All of her wounds are self-inflicted. She does it to make me look like the bad guy.”“Look, I really shouldn’t be discussing my client with—”“I know you don’t believe me,” Mr. Conrad said, interrupting Henry’s words. “But at least believe me when I say that Judy is not who she pretends to be. She’s not sweet and innocent. She’s a mastermind. She’s tried to kill me nu
Gavin’s POVGavin was about to return to the hospital to see Erin; the doctor had just called and told him that Erin was awake and requesting him. However, Henry called, delaying Gavin’s plans.“Do you know where Judy is? She’s not answering the phone I gave her,” Henry said as soon as Gavin answered the phone.“Last I checked she was at the packhouse with Jill. I’m not there currently. I’m about to head back to the hospital,” Gavin explained.“I think I made a mistake by letting Judy stay with you,” Henry said; there was something in his tone that Gavin didn’t recognize, and he was a bit worried about it.“Why do you say that?” Gavin asked, slowing his movements before he strays too far from his pack.“I had a visit with her husband today. Apparently, Judy is insane and she’s the one that beats him,” Henry explained.Gavin stifled a laugh; Judy was a small and seemingly kind woman. Whereas Mr. Conrad, her h
Erin’s POVThe entire hospital shook at the sound of the explosion. At least, I think it was an explosion. It happened so fast I didn’t have the time to wrap my head around anything. My ears were ringing, and my head was pounding in pain.As soon as we heard something exploding from outside, there was silence all throughout the hospital. The power flickered as well, and I could only imagine the damage that would do to the equipment around the hospital. After the silence, I heard the screaming.Everybody was terrified about what was going on, including the staff. However, the hospital security was trying to calm everybody down.“What was that?” I finally managed to ask as I peered over at Henry who was examining outside from the window.“I’m not sure. It sounded like something exploded…” he said slowly as he cracked open a window. He poked his head outside and gazed around before pulling his body back inside. There wa
Erin’s POV“A terrorist attack?” I gasped. “The Killers are attacking us?”Gavin was flipping through the notebook, and I couldn’t tell from his face what he was thinking, but I knew it wasn’t good whatever it was.“Gavin…?” I asked, stepping closer to him.He finally closed the book and looked at me.“They are going to attack the human world too,’ he said. “They put bomb dust everywhere. Apparently, somebody could produce dust out of thin air.”My heart fell into my stomach at the sound of his words.“We need to get Henry and get to the human world,” I said quickly, rushing back toward the halls where we left Henry.Gavin grabbed my arm, halting me.“Are you ever going to tell me why you keep running into danger like this?” Gavin asked. He wasn’t angry, but his tone was curious with a mix of worry. I hated worrying him but I couldn’t tell him the truth. Not now with everything going on. It
Erin’s POVA glimmer of a smile spread across Judy’s lips. I stood frozen in the center of a small town in the human world. It wasn’t far from the border into the werewolf world.Jill remained tied to a pole, struggling to get herself free. I could see the pure horror on her face and the tears forming in her eyes once she realized how serious this situation really was.Judy had the ability to form bomb dust from her fingertips and this entire town reeked of it. Jill reeked of it.There was enough bomb dust to explode most of the human world. All Judy had to do was flick a match and everything would turn to dust.I could use my abilities to wash the dust away, but not quickly enough and not without Judy noticing.I glanced around the town; there weren’t many people outside, but there were some passing by. However, they were frozen in place. Which meant Gavin used his abilities to freeze time without me even noticing.
Erin’s POVTraitor?I glanced up at Gavin who didn’t seem fazed by that wolf’s last word before he died.“What did he mean by traitor?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.“I don’t know,” Gavin shrugged. “It doesn’t matter now. He’s gone.”He turned away from me and walked toward his sister who was struggling to get herself free. With an easy motion, he was able to untie the rope and it fell to the ground around her feet. He also untied her arms, and she ripped the tape off her mouth right away. She burst into tears and wrapped her arms around her brother; her entire body quivering as she cried.“It’s okay now. You’re safe,” he said to her gently. “Nobody is going to hurt you again.”I was still staring at Gavin in shock; I had no idea what that wolf meant when he called him a traitor. It seemed like he knew Gavin somehow.I mean, everybody knew Gavin because he was the most powerful and richest Alph
Erin’s POV“I don’t believe that at all. Gavin wouldn’t betray me like that,” I said, shaking my head.I had to admit that I had my own concerns, especially after that wolf called him a traitor. But there had to be an actual explanation. Other than the fact that he was part of the Killer organization.Gavin was the strongest and most powerful Alpha; there was no way he would be part of something like that.“There’s a reason why he’s being called a traitor by a member of the organization,” Theo said, staring between the two of us. “We were blind to Judy’s motives in the past and we aren’t going to make a mistake like that again. We can’t be too careful anymore.”“There has to be another explanation,” I said, shaking my head. “He wouldn’t do that to me.”“Erin, I know he’s your mate and you have feelings towards him. But you might need to be prepared for the worst scenario. Your feelings are going to get you killed if you aren’
Gavin’s POVGavin wasn’t stupid; he knew that Erin and Henry were never married. But he also knew that Henry was in love with her.Erin looked so upset as she sobbed into her hands.“I don’t understand. Why would he break up with you?” He asked.“He accused me of still loving you. Then, he told me to get out,” she explained with slumping shoulders. “I didn’t know where else to go… so I came here…”Gavin was pleased that she went to him instead of elsewhere. That must mean that what Henry was saying must have been true. At least may be a little true.“You are always welcome to stay here, Erin,” Gavin said, wrapping his arms around her.It felt nice to have her there and immediately after Gavin had wrapped his arms around her, it seemed her body had relaxed greatly.“I’m sorry for piling this on you,” she breathed into him. “I just didn’t know what to do.”“You don’t have to apologize to me. You never
