KEITH POV

Richard's eyes darted nervously before he tried to muster a calm facade. "I wasn't hiding, just trying to get a better signal," he replied, his voice shaky and unconvincing.

My grip on his shoulder tightened. "Don't lie to me, Richard. Who were you talking to?" My voice was low, menacing.

He swallowed hard, clearly struggling to maintain his composure. "It was a private call, Keith. I swear it has nothing to do with Jenna."

I leaned in closer, my face inches from his. "Do you really think I'm in the mood for games? Tell me the truth, or you'll regret it even as my friend."

Richard's eyes widened with fear. He glanced around, as if searching for an escape, but there was none. Finally, he sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "Keith, I'm not sure how you will take this news..."

"Spill it."

Richard sighed deep, "Jenna... had a miscarriage at a nearby hospital just now."

The world seemed to freeze around me, Richard’s words echoing in my mind like a cruel, relentless chant. "
