Chapter 30

Ophelia

    

As we drove through the small town in Texas, my heart started racing. I was so nervous about meeting his family, but I was even more nervous about what they would say if we told them the real reason we were here. Damian pulled off the main highway and onto a gravel road. Both sides of the driveway were lined with wooden fences. On one side there were horses and on the other side there were cows. 

"Damian."

"Yeah?"

"Can we maybe not tell your family why we're really here," I asked timidly.

He pressed the brake and brought the truck to a stop, put it in park and looked at me, "Why?" 

"I really don't want to tell them right now. I mean, I want them to know me first before finding out why we are here or who I am. I mean, what if they get pissed off that we came down here?"
