June rinsed her face in the bathroom, the cool water soothing her heated cheeks. She stared at her reflection, a mixture of nervousness and anger coursing through her. She couldn't believe how Mrs. Scott had just spoken to her, she knew it was because of Emma and her desire to have Hardin pick Emma over her.

If she wanted Emma to be with Hardin so much, why did she have to invite her to this darn breakfast, June thought.

As she dried her hand with a towel, she heard Hardin's voice coming from outside the bathroom door. "June, are you alright?" he asked, genuine concern in his tone.

"Yeah," she replied briefly staring at her reflection again, she couldn't do this, his mum clearly didn't like her. Their relationship wasn't going to work out this way, she thought fighting over a woman for Hardin would be the problem but it seemed Mrs. Scott was going to be it and she couldn't dare come between a son and his mother.

She took a deep breath and opened the door. Hardin was waiting there, hi
