I watched as he picked up the other end of the fork and moved it across the table towards me. He paused, seemingly waiting for me to take a bite out of the piece of meat that he had placed on top of my plate. Reluctantly, I took the fork and poked cautiously at it before tentatively lifting it to my mouth. Although it wasn't very appetizing, I ate the portion that Ezra offered anyway. For now, I would have to endure the discomfort that came with having food in my mouth. It wasn't like I hadn't had to eat anything recently.Once I finished the rest of my breakfast, Ezra placed the fork in the sink before reaching for his wallet, which was resting next to it on the table. He dug around in his pocket for several seconds before producing two tens and tossing them on the table. Without another word, he grabbed my arm and dragged me to the door, practically dragging me across the hallway. Before I could ask where we were going, he pushed me into my bedroom and slammed the door shut behi
With a small nod, Ezra got off the bed and headed towards the bathroom. When he returned moments later, he handed me a plate full of food before sitting down beside me on the bed. While we ate in silence, my mind drifted back to earlier. How did he know that I haven't eaten since yesterday? I mean, I don't remember telling him that."How long have you been living alone?" Ezra suddenly asked me, causing me to look up at him."Why are you asking me that?"He shrugged in response, his gaze focused intently on my face. I shifted uncomfortably, feeling like he was analysing my face as though he was looking for something. Eventually, he broke the stare and looked down at my food instead."Did you live on your own?" he repeated."Yeah, for a couple of years now," I replied. He looked at me questioningly and I swallowed the last bit of my food. I didn't quite understand why he wanted to ask me that. Maybe because he already knew the answer? Was he really that interested in how long it had
My eyes fluttered open and I blinked blearily, adjusting to the darkness. I stretched my limbs out, yawning loudly before rolling over and burying my face in Dan's chest. He immediately tightened his grip on me and buried his head in my hair, pressing gentle kisses along my neck. A smile spread across my face as a deep contented sigh escaped my lips. For a few minutes, we simply lay in silence. Then, my eyes snapped open once more. How long had I fallen asleep for? Ezra gently pushed himself upwards, letting me lie underneath him, so that my head rested upon his chest. Slowly, I lifted my head up to look at him. His dark eyes met mine, gazing down at me lovingly."Good morning," he murmured quietly, his voice low and husky.I blushed lightly, averting my gaze from his."Mmm..."Suddenly, he reached forwards and pulled me in close. One of his hands ran through my hair as the other moved to stroke the soft skin of my waist. I melted into his touch, allowing myself to sink deeper into
After several moments, I began to notice the sounds that were filling the air. I lifted my head off of his shoulder and opened my eyes to take a better look at the scenery around me. To my surprise, I realized that we weren't the only ones that were out here. There were people who were either sitting in chairs around a fire, or else they were taking a stroll around the area. I noticed a young man standing in a clearing, and after watching him for a while, I recognized him as the same one that had approached me yesterday. I didn't know who it was at first, but as I watched him walk farther down the clearing, I could tell that he was talking to another person. Once he reached the end of the clearing and headed away from us, I glanced over at Ezra."Is that who I think it is?" I questioned. He nodded slowly."Yeah, it is," he confirmed.I frowned, unsure whether or not I wanted to meet him. However, the curiosity was beginning to eat away at me, so I forced myself to stand up and make
"What is it? Did something happen?" he questioned worriedly. My heart sank at his question; I couldn't bring myself to lie to him about what happened earlier. I shook my head and bit my bottom lip nervously."Do you still want to go see that movie?" he inquired.I sighed heavily before answering."No, not really," I responded honestly. When Ezra looked at me confused, I explained, "I kind of ruined the mood for us.""What do you mean?" Dan asked concerned.I stared down at the floor and shrugged my shoulders."We haven't seen each other in a few weeks, and I' m kind of tired of seeing that girl all the time. She's kind of creepy, and I'm just starting to get sick of her. I've told her that I don't want to see her anymore, but she keeps bugging me to go out to dinner with her because I have a boyfriend now," I admitted sheepishly.Ezra frowned at me."So you're saying that you don't want to go out with me today?" he questioned.I sighed and nodded, admitting defeat."Why can't you just
I knew Ezra loved me. That was an undeniable fact, but the only reason I felt comfortable around him was because I trusted him. However, I knew deep down that we both knew that I wasn't his whole world. We both knew that we weren't meant for each other. I sighed deeply as I climbed up the steps of our apartment building. I pushed open the apartment door with no hesitation. Dan and I were still engaged in the past week. Our conversation had been brief and awkward, but neither of us seemed to be able to break away from the other. I could tell that he was hurting, but I didn't know how to make the pain go away. Ezra's father was a man that didn't deserve to be hurt. Yet, I knew that Dan would never choose his dad over me. I sighed."Hey, babe," Ezra called from the kitchen.I smiled and made my way towards the couch, taking a seat beside him on the couch and leaning against him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and gazed up into his beautiful emerald green eyes. The corners of his m
"I love you so much," he whispered in my ear before pressing his lips against mine.I felt my cheeks flush brightly again and I closed my eyes in anticipation. As soon as our lips connected, I felt my senses begin to dull and my body relax. All of my worries and problems melted away, leaving nothing but bliss behind them. Nothing mattered except for Ezra."I love you too," I replied softly. After a moment, I pulled away, breaking apart our kiss. I took a deep breath and exhaled loudly."So...are we going back to watching TV now?" I asked hopefully. He chuckled softly."We can continue watching whatever you want," he replied. "However, are you sure that you're alright?" he questioned.A part of me wanted to lie and say everything was fine, but I knew that I couldn't do it. I couldn't hide the truth from Ezra. Besides, he probably already suspected something, judging by the look in his eyes. So, I decided to answer honestly instead."Honestly? No. Not really. I' m just tired," I admit
"Marry me," he muttered between heavy breaths."Huh? Why?" I questioned, staring up at him in confusion."Because...because I want you to marry me," he repeated.I gasped quietly in shock, unable to speak a word. Dan's dark eyes were filled with determination as he stared at me intently.ToYah, yah, yes! Of course, I'll marry you!" I blurted out hurriedly.I immediately slapped a hand over my mouth. My voice had come out so loud and I could tell that Ezra had definitely heard me. I bit my lip anxiously and glanced over at him nervously. But surprisingly, he didn't react at all he merely chuckled softly and kissed me tenderly on the lips."Good girl," he murmured softly. "Now come here," he added.I reluctantly crawled towards him. Once I was close enough, he pulled me into a tight embrace and hugged me tightly."Are you okay?" he asked worriedly."Yeah, I'm alright," I assured him.I couldn't believe I had just proposed to Ezra. Sure, I'd always known that it would eventually happen,
