Chapter 5_ Overprotective.

LEILANI'S POV:

I got inside the cab after making sure that my passport was and ticket was intact.

I managed to get Kiara's help, now I had only two days to get back to work. Tomorrow evening I'll be on the next plane back to New York.

"Let's go, please." I told the cab driver.

It has been long I last saw my mother, sobi was so excited for this journey.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Kiara's number.

'Hey, how is it going?' i asked her. She giggled softly before responding.

'Mr Black is intense, Leilani. I can't imagine how hard you work to perfect everything. I'll be grateful if he doesn't fire me before the day ends.' she said. I laughed and shook my head.

I expected her to complain to me. It wasn't surprising.

'Why? What did you do?' I asked her.

'i added too much sugar in his coffee, I've made his coffee over four times before getting it right. Now he sent me to look for a red file inside your drawer.'

A red file?

Oh shit. A red file!

'Oh my goodness, Kiara. That file is in my house. I'll call Mr Black and let him know. Thank you for helping me with this Kiara. I owe you one.'

'You owe me big time. Mr Black isn't an ordinary boss. I so much prefer my cubicle to this hell hole.' she said and we both laughed.

I hanged up after a while and I stared scrolling through my contacts searching for Mr Black's number.

Immediately I saw 'Black heart' on my screen I quickly dialed it.

You know why I saved his contact as Black heart? Because I don't think he have a heart.

He doesn't behave like someone who does.

'Sir I forgot to drop off the file in your office yesterday. I'm so sorry. I'll drop it immediately I get back tomorrow.' I told him when he picked up the phone.

'Okay.' he said and hanged up on me.

Okay? Just okay? I didn't think it's okay.

Dylan has a sick way of carrying out his dominance on people and I don't want to get to work on Friday and have a sack letter waiting for me on my desk.

Dear Mr, Black.

I'm so sorry for my carelessness.

I hope you don't take it to heart.

Sincerely.

Secretary Carter.

The cab stopped inside the airport and I quickly got out. I carried my bag with one hand and paid the cab driver. I fished out my passport and ticket from my purse as I hear the warning.

God saved me.

My flight was about to take off.

***

After my almost three hours flight. The plane finally landed at Indianapolis. I cleared my ticket and boarded a taxi straight to my parent's house.

I got out of the taxi and walked towards the house. I knocked softly on the door and my Mom opened the door. She wrapped his hand around me in a tight hug.

"Look at you, Leila. You look so beautiful." She said. I smiled as she released me and I kissed her cheek.

"You look splendid, yourself. Where is the birthday man?" I asked as I walked inside the house. I found Pá reading a newspaper when I walked inside the living room.

"Pápa." I called. He looked up at me and smiled proudly.

"If it isn't my favorite girl." He said and opened his arms. I dropped my bag and went to hug him.

"Oh my goodness, I miss you guys so much. I can't remember the last time we saw each other." I said.

"How are you going to visit when all you care about is Dylan Black." I would recognize that voice anywhere.

"Don't be an asshole Colt." I said with a roll of my eyes.

"Oh, now you can use a curse word on me because you're older? I'll see you try that with Gregory." Colt said and pushed out his tongue at me.

I turned around to face him and saw Gregory climbing down the stairs. A blonde woman was with him. I raised an eyebrow at her.

Just seeing her in less than three seconds I already dislike her. I wasn't being overprotective of my older brother. I was conscious of her.

Gregory has had his fair share of heartbreak.

"Hey there little sis." He called out on me. I snapped out of my trance and grinned widely.

"Gregory! Look at you! You look so handsome and….is your muscles getting bigger or I'm imagining it?" I asked. The girl beside him bursted into a fit of laughter and quickly covered her mouth with her palm.

"Well thank you, Leilani. Here, meet my girlfriend Zoey. Zoey met my troublesome little sister Leilani." He introduced. I rolled my eyes and wrapped my hand around his waist.

"You still love me though." I said and winked at him. "Nice to meet you, Zoey."

Later that evening Zoey and I were helping Ma inside the kitchen so I decided to use that minimum to get to know her more and not just dive into conclusions about a personality. I wasn't the type to judge someone immediately I see them but I was just being protective of my brother, so you can't blame me right?

"I heard Greg mention that you work for a publishing company. Is that true?" I asked her. She rinsed the plates and nodded her head.

"I'm actually a writer. So yeah I like to write, so when people asked me what I do I normally said that I work in a publishing company because there was a time when I used to tell people that I write and it was just that they took it the funny way like definitely a joke." She said,

I felt kinda bad hearing her say that she was scared to tell people but she do and that doesn't make sense no matter what someone choose to do and this world as far as it is what they love doing then it's nobody f****** business I can decide to be billions secretary for the rest of my life if my job is my life and nobody's f****** business and I don't care what anybody says about it but hearing someone else being insecure about the job they do and what they love doing made me so mad.

"To be sincerely honest with you your reasons are b******* I can't believe you're dating my brother and still care about what other people think of you. like, that is what you love doing and you want to hide it from the world like it doesn't make sense to me honestly and I would love to read your book. I'm sure you are a good writer." I told her. She smiled widely.

"You are a sweetheart Leilani. Greg has told me alot about you and how overprotective of him you are. But that doesn't compare to talking to you personally. You weren't as bad as I thought." She said and I laughed loudly.

"You girls should hurry up with the plates. I'll go check up on your father." Má said before walking out of the kitchen.

"Trust me Zoey. You don't want to see the overprotective side of me." I told her.

I think I just got myself a new friend.
