Chapter 1

KATE ROSE

I don't want to see him again. He started my day with something not good. I'm gonna kill him. I tried to calm myself.

I stopped walking and closed my eyes for a while. Then took a very deep breath. After a few minutes, I continued walking to the cafeteria where my three friends are. They're waiting for me there. When I saw her standing outside the cafeteria, I approached her immediately. She was in dismay and I can feel she's worried. It's because of our friend Chloe who's crying and heartbroken right now.

"Why are you here, Anna? Where's our friend Chloe, huh? Is she still in the cafeteria? Who's with her?" I asked my friend Anna.

"I'm waiting for you, Kate Rose," she said.

"And that's the reason why you are here?" Anna nodded. "Yes, Kate Rose. I'm waiting for you to arrive. Finally you're here."

"So where are they? Is she still in the cafeteria with our friend Eliza?" I asked her again.

"Yes. She's still in the cafeteria with our friend Eliza. She's still crying there and I don't know how to stop her from crying. We tried to calm her down, but we're failing to do it," Anna said.

"What happened to our friend Chloe? Did she tell you the reason why she's crying right now? Is it true that she's heartbroken, huh?" I asked her just to make sure. Anna gave me a quick nod.

"Yes, Kate Rose. I'm not kidding with you. She's really heartbroken and that's the reason why she's still crying right now,'' she reassured me.

"Anna, I'm only asking. She was just having fun the other day with us, right? And how can she be heartbroken today? All I know is that she doesn't have a boyfriend and she's single. But how did it happen that she was heartbroken, huh?" I said. I was so confused.

"Yeah, exactly. That's what I want to say to you. We thought she had no boyfriend and she's single, but we were surprised when she confessed that she's heartbroken because her boyfriend cheated on her. We got shocked when she suddenly broke down and found out that she was heartbroken. The man who broke her heart had been with her for two months. She hid it from us because she doesn't want to let us know the truth. She only said that now. I can't believe this is happening, Kate Rose!" Anna explained to me having mixed emotions for our friend Chloe.

We had never thought it would possibly happen to our friend Chloe. We're shocked. It's inevitable for me not to feel mad after I heard what she told me.

"Men are really like that! They can't be trusted easily. You know that, Anna. Our friend Chloe is crying because that man cheated on her! I can't take this anymore! That foolish man needs to be punished. He will pay for what she had done to our friend!" I said. I was furious.

"You're absolutely right, Kate Rose. That man needs to be punished! We're really shocked about what happened. Chloe can't accept that they're both ended and she was cheated by him. She was depressed and that's why we can't stop her from crying," Anna told me. I let out a deep sigh before I speak again.

"I have a question to you, Anna," I said.

"What is it?" She answered.

"What's the name of the man who cheated to our friend, huh? Do you know him who became her boyfriend? Is he handsome?" I asked my friend Anna if she knew who was the man who broke the heart of our friend. She nodded immediately.

"Yes, I know him. We know him very well. He's famous and even you probably know him too," she told me. I gave her a frown.

"W-what? I know him, huh? Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm pretty sure of it. You know him, Kate Rose. He's famous. He's the ultimate crush of every girl here in our university. Everyone knows him," she said.

"What is his name, huh? I want to know..." I asked her.

"His name is Dark Louiz Romero. Do you remember his name, huh? You know him very well, even though he's in another college. But we're in one university. He's handsome, tall and known for being a playboy. I don't even know why our friend Chloe agreed to be his girlfriend even though he knew him very well. She knew that he was a mischievous playboy. They said love is blind and when you fell in love with someone, you wanted to be with him no matter how far or complicated it is and you never listen to what other people might say because you only listen to your heart desires, not the opinion of others. When you fell in love with someone who might gonna hurt and leave you someday everything turns into nothing. Look at what happened to our friend Chloe," Anna said.

I honestly don't even know that man she was referring to me. I don't know men like him because I don't prioritize myself when it comes to that.

"I'm so sorry, but I don't know him whose name is Dark Louiz Romero. I don't really know him. He's a well-known a playboy here?" I replied to my friend with a frown.

"Yes, Kate Rose. He's really a well-known playboy. Do you really not know him, huh?" She asked me and made sure I knew him.

"Not really, Anna. I don't know him. Would I tell you lies if I really knew him? Of course not. I won't do that," I said. "Let's go back to our conversation about our friend Chloe. She was cheated on. That man you told me didn't love her. You told me he was a playboy, right?" I said to my friend. Anna nodded at me.

"Yeah, you're right. That man just fooled her, so I really feel sorry for our friend Chloe. She's depressed and heartbroken because of that. I'm gonna kick his ass if I saw him. That's not the only thing I can do to him, maybe I can even kill him!" Anna said with her two fists clenched.

"Do you have a picture of that man?" I asked my friend Anna if she had a picture of him. She quickly answered me.

"I have a picture of him. Just wait, I'll show his picture to you and you will know who's Dark Louiz Romero I'm referring to you," she said.

Anna opened her cell phone immediately to show me the picture of him whose name is Dark Louiz Romero. My eyes widened. I was shocked when she showed me his picture. I was devastated in my mind when I saw his picture. I couldn’t believe he was the man who I had fought with because we were accidentally bumped into each other earlier. But I decided not to tell what happened with us. I pretended I didn't see him before.

"So you know him now, huh? Haven't you really seen him even before? It's impossible for you not to see him," Anna asked me.

"No, I haven't really seen him yet. I'm so sorry. I'm telling you the truth. In all of the students here at the university I'm the only one who hasn't seen him yet. But now that you've shown his picture to me, I have already seen him and I may recognize him when I see him soon. Thanks for sharing it with me," I said.

"You're always welcome, Kate Rose. I believe you now," she said.

"What are we waiting for? Maybe we could go inside and see our friend Chloe. I want to see her now," I said. Anna nodded.

"Okay. Let's go inside."

When we walked closer to our friend Chloe, I couldn't get it out of my mind that the man who cheated and broke our friend's heart was the man I had fought earlier.

I realized that our world is just too small. I didn't tell my friend Anna what happened earlier. Maybe she will have something more to say. I'd better not tell her about that.

Our friend Chloe was still crying when we got close to her. I immediately hugged her very tightly and tried to calm her down.

"What happened to you, Chloe?" I asked her.

"My boyfriend cheated on me. He broke my heart. I'm sorry, I didn't tell the truth before. I hid everything about us. Forgive me, please," Chloe said, sobbing.

"You don't have to ask for our forgiveness. We are your friends and we understand you now. Chloe, we're both worried for you. Please don't cry. We're here for you," I said, comforting her.

"Thank you for understanding me," she said.

"Yeah, we understand you now even though it's hard for us to see you like that. We're your friends. So please stop crying," I begged. Eliza gave her a tissue to wipe away her tears. We're thankful because she listened to me. She stopped from crying and she started wiping her tears.

"I don't know what to do now. I still love him. I gave him everything, but in return he cheated on me. He broke my heart into pieces. I saw him with a girl last week, but I ignored it. Maybe that girl was his cousin or friend, but I was wrong. I found out the truth that girl was his new girlfriend. I confronted him and he confessed the truth to me. My world fell apart when he told the truth. He broke my heart. I really loved him. Why did he do this to me? I have done nothing wrong! What's wrong with me? Am I ugly, huh?" Chloe explained.

The three of us looked at each other. I sighed first before speaking to our friend.

"Chloe, you're not even ugly. You're beautiful. That man who cheated on you doesn't deserve your love. You have to forget him. The perfect man for you will come at the right time. He will not hurt you anymore. He's not worth for your tears," I said.

"But I still want to be with him. I really loved him. That's what I want and nothing else. I want him back. Even if I beg I will do it, just be with him again," she said, starting to cry again.

"He cheated on you. You don't need him anymore. You have to move on. That's it. He doesn't love you and that's why he left you easily. Please don't be offended. Forget him even if we say you love him. You deserve someone better than him! Please, he's not worth for your tears. He's an asshole!" I said, but she kept on crying.

We hugged her to let her know that she's not alone and we sympathized with her who truly love her. I felt pity for our friend Chloe because of that man who broke her heart into pieces. I felt like I was cheated too. I'm really hurt for our friend Chloe and I won't let that happen again.

We reminded her again of what she must do, so that she would not be hurt too much.

"He doesn't deserve your tears. Stop crying please. We're just your friends. We're always there for you and help you any time," I said. Chloe took some tissue to dry her tears again.

"Thank you for that. But I was hurt and I don't know what to do next. I still love him," she said.

"Chloe, we are your true friends. We're always there for you. You know that we're sad and hurt by what you were going through. The only thing we can do is to be with you. We won't leave you. We promise you that," Anna said.

"Yeah, that's right. We're always there for you. Don't be sad. You're not alone. You will forget him. He's not worth for your tears. Don't cry, please," Eliza said.

We hugged her again. I'm willing to help our friend Chloe and I have to do something, but I don’t know how to start.
