Chapter 2

KATE ROSE

We decided to spend one hour in the cafeteria to wait for our class this morning. When we had seven minutes before our class starts, we decided to go to our first class. Our professor was not yet there when we arrived in our room. There were students waiting there for our professor. We kept quiet and it seemed like nothing had happened.

After a few minutes, our professor arrived. She dismissed us early, so we decided to go to the library and study for our upcoming exams next week.

We were walking towards the library when our friend Chloe stopped suddenly. We also stopped with full of astonishment. She looked at us with her face frowning.

Eliza asked her in astonishment, "What's going on and you stopped walking, huh?"

Our friend Chloe closed her eyes, but it was only for a few seconds. She looked to us and she looked again at the side of the stairs we'd passed. We also looked at the direction where she's looking at. My eyes widened when I saw again the man I had bumped into and I had fought earlier who had cheated on to our friend Chloe. He was accompanied by a beautiful and sexy woman with a colored hair. The beautiful woman's hair color is red.

"Oh my goodness! Is he the man who had hurt and cheated on to our friend Chloe?" Eliza asked us while covering her mouth with her left hand. Chloe couldn't take her eyes off them with her two fists clenched. She was furious.

"Yes, Eliza. That's Dark Louiz, the man who broke and hurt our friend Chloe. Let's just ignore him. He can't help us. Come on, guys!" Anna said, inviting us to leave and ignore what we'd seen.

"Okay," Eliza said.

When we were about to continue walking towards the library our friend Chloe stopped and spoke with us. We'd no idea why.

"Guys, please wait..." Chloe said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Please let me do this," she said, "for the last time." We exchanged looks and Anna spoke next to our friend Chloe. She's wondering.

"Wait, Chloe. We can't even understand you. What do you mean, huh?" She was frowning and her eyes were in tears. Our friend Chloe cleared her throat before answering to us.

"Please allow me to talk to him even for the last time," she begged. I opened my mouth to speak because I couldn't stand it anymore. I need to stop her from what she's going to do.

"Why do you want to talk to him? It's all over. The man you loved had cheated on you. He hurt and broke your heart and you don't need to talk to him anymore. Please, Chloe. Don't talk to him anymore. We should go to the library now. He'll hurt you again if you do what you want. Please, listen to us, Chloe," I begged. Chloe took a very deep breath.

''Yeah, I know, but I need to talk to him and even for the last time," Chloe insisted.

"No, Chloe! You're not going to talk to him again. You're going to look stupid. So, let's get out of here!" I answered and held her two hands.

"Allow me please, to talk to him for the last time," she insisted again. I sighed heavily while I was still holding her cold sweaty hands.

"You have to listen to us, Chloe. We're your friends. We know what's the best for you to do and we don't want to hurt you again because of him. You don't have to talk to him! He broke your heart and you should forget him and move on for your own peace. You have to move on, please. Let's go to the library now. Come on, guys!" I said.

Her tears fell from her eyes again and we hugged her so tight. I caressed her back to calm her down. Our friend Chloe was heartbroken and I felt heartbroken too, because of her situation. She nodded and we went in the library. She was wiping her tears with a tissue paper when we entered the library.

When afternoon came, we got home early because we had no class. Auntie Rosa wasn't yet there when I'd arrived at her house where I was temporarily living. She's still at work. It was already dark when she arrived from the office where she'd worked. My Auntie Rosa was tired from her work. She sat down on the couch immediately. Before she spoke to me, she took a deep breath.

"Finally, I'm home. You know I'm so tired working for almost eight hours," she said wearily. I sat down in front of her. I nodded.

"You have to rest for a while, auntie. There's probably no work that isn't tiring, right?" I replied. Auntie Rosa nodded.

"Yeah, I agree with you. There's really no work that isn't tiring and even chewing food is tiring," Auntie Rosa said jokingly. We both laughed.

"You were right, auntie," I said, laughing. "But how was your day?" Auntie Rosa asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

"It was okay, auntie," I said. "We'd no class this afternoon, so we got home early."

"Oh, really?" she answered. I nodded.

"Yes," I said. "I have a question to ask for you."

"What is it?" She asked. I sighed again before I asked my auntie who waits for what I should ask for her.

"One of my classmates was hurt and cheated by her ex-boyfriend, she loved. Her boyfriend was a playboy and hurt a lot of women," I said, staring at her seriously.

"Is that so?" Her eyes got bigger.

"Yes, auntie," I answered. "Her ex-boyfriend was a playboy and hurt a lot of women."

"And now what?" Auntie Rosa frowned.

"I want to ask you about..."

"About what?"

"About," I said, "why a man becomes a playboy? Why does he become a playboy, auntie? What are the reasons? I'm sure there are reasons why a man becomes a playboy, right?" Her eyes widened and she took a deep breath again.

"There are many reasons why a man becomes a playboy. Some of them wanted to have more women. Others have become bitter in love because their beloved girlfriends left them and they can't accept the fact that the person they'd loved left them and to forget, they'd made the women into toys, fooled, and hurt them afterwards. While the others just can't do anything with their lives, so that's what they do. There are so many reasons," Auntie Rosa explained and I nodded with her.

When I was lying down in my bed, I still couldn’t help, but think what my auntie told me about the possible reasons why a man becomes a playboy. And I also I'm thinking of our friend Chloe, who's hurt and heartbroken because of Dark Louiz.

I quickly got up from my bed and tried to call her, but she's not answering my call.

I sighed and closed my eyes for a few seconds. When I opened my eyes, I completely turned off my cell phone. Maybe she's asleep, so she didn't answer my call anymore. I lay down again on my bed and looked up at the ceiling of the room I was sleeping in. I let out a series of sighs and didn't realize I had fallen asleep.

We had an early class, so I woke up early the next day. It was quiet inside our university campus when I was there. I have seen students there, but only a few. It's still early, so I haven't seen a lot of students yet. I was walking towards our classroom when my cell phone rang. Our friend Chloe is calling me and I answered her call immediately.

"Good morning, Chloe. How are you feeling today? Are you okay now?" I greeted my friend. Our friend Chloe let out a deep sigh before answering me. Her voice was hoarse as she spoke.

"Good morning too, Kate Rose. Are you at school yet?" She answered me. She asked me if I’m in university yet.

"Yes, Chloe. I'm already here in our university. Why are you asking? Are you coming here now?" I asked her and she let out a deep sigh again before answering me.

"No, Kate Rose. I can't come in now," she said softly and my lips parted.

"Huh? Why don't you come in now? What's wrong?" I asked my friend.

"I'm not feeling well, Kate Rose."

"Oh, really? You're not feeling well?"

Chloe nodded. "Yes, I'm sorry."

"It's okay, Chloe. If you're not feeling well right now you have to drink your medicine or see a doctor. And you don't have to worry if our professors found out you're not around because we'll take care of letting them know that you're not feeling well," I said, worriedly.

"Ah, okay, Kate Rose," she said. "Thank you so much."

"You're always welcome, Chloe. Get well soon."

"I know. Thank you again, Kate Rose. Keep safe."

"You too,'' I replied.

After we ended our conversation on the other line, I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh.
