Why wouldn’t I just say it? I’d been asking myself that all day.

When I took too long to answer, he glanced over from rubbing the fork with a green and yellow sponge. Giving me a sideways look. “Do you want steak?”

“Yes, Sir…” I lifted my hands in surrender. Quickly grabbing a thick plastic spoon from the flowered ceramic vase of utensils I’d placed in the middle of his counter, simply to be annoying. I set it next to the stove as I bowed out of the room.

He glared, watching my step comically.

Laughing, I rounded and headed for one of the boxes of my things. I had to wander a minute before I realized I couldn’t find it.

“Kane?”

“Yes, Dear?” He said in an overly honeyed tone as if he knew what I was going to say.

“Where are my clothes?” I called back from the living area.

“I burned them.”

“What?” I screeched. Brows flying to my hairline.

“Yep.” He stepped from the kitchen to peer at me. “So you’d have to be naked all the time. Burning those too.”
