Chapter Fifty-Four.

“Who was that?” Isabella lifted her chin up to Joan who leaned against the door frame. She ran her hands through her greasy hair before throwing her phone to the bed with a tireless sigh. Isabella could recognize that look in her eyes and knew it was a man.

And she was right, Joan had just gotten off the phone with Ivan.

He called to ask that he’d come around after his date or whatever he had with Kelly and somehow, it had spiraled into an argument. She retired to the bed and Isabella inched closer into her arms.

“Come on now, what have you been up to?” Her hands brisked atop her nose as Isa pouted. “It would really take my mind off the mess that is my life now, and the worry” She shrugged and even Joan had her lips wide open that she could play that card.

“Fine” She heaved in defeat.

“I met someone but it was completely useless and time-wasting, and a solid reminder that men are shit-bags and to only rely on the infamous and occasional one night stands, nothing more—“ Her eyes dwindl
