Chapter Two

The ride to the hospital was bumpy. A lot of cars where driving passed us in high speed and a lot of shops where being broken into in daylight damn things where getting bad really bad.

"Shit this is like a fucking movie" Elise said as she stared out of her window with her eyes wide open. Gary was trying hard not to fall asleep mainly because we begged him not to. He won't die on me not here at least if we are at the hospital. Not like in hoping he would die or anything but just not here.

"I know right" I said "shit!" I cursed as I nearly ran into a man covered in blood. "Gary you alright back there?" I said.

"Yeah...... I'm... Good...." He said obviously tired.

"Just try to stay awake" Elise said.

The road was filled with people who where either running or dying? I'm not sure but everything was happening too fast.

Huffing and puffing, we finally made it to the hospital. That was the longest 10 minutes of my life.

My head was spinning and I'm sure my legs where gonna give up any minute if I don't rest. And Gary wasn't looking good at all. He was starting to look too pale and It was really scary.

"Gary are you ok?" Elise said as she helped him out of the car.

"I'm... Fine..." He said between breaths.

"No you're not we need to hurry" I said as I grabbed his other arm. "Shit looks like we'll be here long " I said as I took in the crowd before us. It was like a fucking protest with lots of people on stretchers.

We squeezed our way through the crowd to get to the front desk which was very busy and I could sense the confusion and panic.

People where yelling and some where attacking from everywhere and everything was just messy. There goes my perfect graduation wish. Fuck this island.

"What's your emergency?" The woman at the front desk asked.

"Urm ... An injured leg ma'am" I answered

"Number of patients" doesn't an mean one? Jesus.

"One"

"Cause?"

"Bite"

"Infected?"

"Yes"

Her eyes looked panicked as she looked down and typed somethings.

"Fifth floor use the elevators at the left" she then yelled next and we began to move. Gary is really heavy and I wasn't enjoying this one bit. I mean no one is so.. who am I to complain.

"I can't.... Move...." Gary said as we got to the elevator.

"We're literally holding you" I snapped and Elise punched my arm "ouch" I glared at her and she shrugged.

"It's just few more steps you can do it" Elise said.

We stepped into the elevator and headed to the fifth floor. As we stepped out, I was nearly knocked down by the number of people there. The place was swamped. All the seats where taken and lot of sick people where standing.

"Take a seat we'll get back to you" the nurse we met said as she called next. We nodded as we walked towards the end of the line damn there wasn't any space.

"Let's check the exit side I'm sure they'll be space" Elise led us towards the exit where a water fountain was.

We finally got space there and helped Gary to sit. He looked really bad and it was really disturbing.

Elise sat down by his left and I sat by his right. We watched as people entered for checkup and watched as some who where chained to beds wheeled to only God knows where.

Some never even used the exit where were they exactly?. Everything was happening fast I couldn't understand what was going on.

"Guys.... I think.... I'm getting worse" Gary said beside me coughing after every word. Then he began to cough violently. I jumped to my feet as I stepped away from him. Elise did the same as she looked at me as if saying what the fuck.

His removed his hands from his mouth and it was stained with blood. He began to cough blood and some people seemed to notice the chaos as I heard whispers.

I was so confused as I heard different people begin to cough everything was happening too fast. Elise began to call for the nurse but I just stood there.

Some men dressed in bio- hazard suits rushed to us with a stretcher and chains. And began to pick Gary up.

"Hey he's having a seizure you're not supposed to move him!" I screamed finally getting my voice back but the men ignored me. "Hey!" I called again but they still ignored me.

Gary trashed around as the wheeled him towards the door the badly infected people went through. They opened the door and it became bloody.

A nurse whose hands where detached from her body ran out screaming in pain as she fell. The room became hot as people began to run towards the exit. People began to panic and run .

"Eth!!" Elise screamed my name from the other side of the room as people began to push everyone around.

"El!!" I screamed as I tried to locate her. I couldn't see her but I could hear her screams.

My head began to spin due to the way I was twisting and turning. I couldn't find her and things where getting worst. The nurse who was bleeding was now bitting people and the people where bitting other people and Elise was missing.

Should I wait for her? Should I ? Or should I run outside and wait for her ? All my thoughts came to a stop as I heard a gun- shot fired behind me. I whipped my head to see the commotion and I saw a man with a revolver shooting at a sick man.

My body couldn't move as I watched the man being shot a million times. Then that's when it hit me. This is the real deal nothing will ever be the same again. The world was going crazy or will I say the island?.

Shit this is the apocalypse.
