~Chapter 2- BLACK EMPIRE

I could feel his eyes on me as I set down his plate, not once meeting his gaze. It wasn't the first time I was going to have to pretend like I was a clueless and tender girl. It was what men like him needed, behaving the way I did made sure men like him kept coming back to eat here.

I finally met his gaze, sending him a small smile before walking away with an added sway in my hips.

______________

I walked down the dark and lonely alley with my duffle bag hanging loosely behind me. I had shed some more tears walking down memory lane, from the first day I started working here till now, my experience would have been more cherished if I had made some friends. But I wasn't exactly the social butterfly, I only spoke to people I needed to and no one else.

I sighed as reality came tumbling down like a pile of bricks.

I needed to find a new job. It was going to be very hard to find a job in this over populated city, especially one that pays well enough to help with my bills. I kept my eyes trained on the path ahead as I held tightly to the hand of my bag and I proceeded to turn by the sharp corner.

I jerked when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey"

I stared wide eyed at the man with hazel eyes. My hands clutched tightly to my chest as it rose and fell.

"Sorry if I frightened you miss.....?"

He trailed off waiting for my response.

"Jasmine, but you can call me Jess" I tried to hide the discomfort that was painted all over my face. Did this guy follow me?

Was he a kidnapper!

I probably shouldn't have told him my name. I mentally face palmed, if he was indeed a kidnapper he was a good looking one at that. I wouldn't mind being kidnapped my him tho...

"Okay Jess... " he trailed off as his eyes fell on my duffle bag and a pinch formed between his eyebrows. "What's in the bag?"

I adjusted my bag to sit further behind me, away from his line of sight.

"Oh.. Uh nothing much, just a few stuff from my old job"

Why was I telling him this!

"Old job?" He asked with an amused look on his face.

"Yeah, old. I got fired today"

I avoided his gaze uncomfortably tapping my ballet flats on the hard tailed side walk.

"That's great" he said with a small smile on his face that immediately faded once he saw my facial expression.

"No I meant, I wanted to offer you a job, now that I heard you've been fired it's just right timing" he blurted out quickly and nervously , playing with the end of his blazer, boring holed into the side walk. His hand went into his blazer and he pulled out a white card, handing it over to me and I hesitantly took it.

My eyes fell on the words "BLACK EMPIRE" written boldly in gold cursive.

I looked just below the words to see an address.

"What-" I trailed off looking up to see the empty ally that I had just come from. He was gone, without another word.

I stared from the business card in my hand to the empty ally where he stood a few minutes ago.
