Those guys were pretty rough with me last night, but not that rough. Sure, they branded me with their teeth, but they didn't hurt me or anything.

When I look at Kadmon, I see that he is touching his lip ring.

"Oh," I sigh, my fingers going to my own lip reflexively.

Now I understand. They will pierce me.

Extraordinary pain explodes through my right breast as Hasker's long, thin needle pierces my nipple. Reflexively, my body tries to pull away from the pain, but Addom's powerful arms tighten tightly around me in a marble statue hug. I squeeze Kadmon's hand so hard his fingers turn purple.

The sound of my screamed curse echoes through the Temple of the Source, bouncing through the cavernous, vaulted space. Some worshipers taking slow turns around the Fountain lift their heads at my outburst.

I think under the circumstances I can be forgiven for staining this holy place with my desecration.
