It was already night that Damon had entered the duchy. He was never searched by the servants as well as his tutors because he had notified them in advance about him being sick and he needed time alone to recover himself from such illness. He knew that the duchess and his two sisters will be worried to him but he asked them not to call any physicians, he just let them know that he wanted some space. Then, they give him that.
