And before he could even process everything he heard some footstep nearing where he was

Damon wanted to process everything about the information that he had finished reading but he can't seem to face process it all. For the moment, he was left standing at his position because he had already heard some nearing steps to the secret place thinking it might be the duke. He can’t seem to moved, like his whole body was paralyzed the moment he had red those information from the duke. He feels like it was another’s diary. He felt like – it was a diary of a long forgotten person within the empire. There, he was unconsciously shocked that the book that he had held tightly in his hands earlier had now already fallen to the floor. Yet, his sight was focused elsewhere with his mouth  wide open.

With the sudden footsteps that he's hearing, he immediately went back to reality as he shook his head, closed his mouth
