Chapter 46: Lumiére's arrival

~ Lumiére's POV ~

As Lumiére sat in the back of the long limousine, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The silence was deafening. Perhaps it was because Reagan had decided not to attend the Charity ball with him, leaving him with Middleton instead. Or maybe it was the fact that the spacious limousine was only occupied by four people, making the atmosphere feel eerie and disconnected.

Lost in thought, Lumiére's eyes drifted to the rearview mirror, where he caught a glimpse of Arin staring at him. The intensity of the gaze made him feel uneasy, and he sighed, wishing he could convince the man that he was fine.

"You do know that staring at me that way makes you look suspicious, right?" he called out to Arin, who was seated in the passenger seat at the front of the car.

Middleton shifted his body, moving a little farther away from Lumiére, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness. There was more than enough space at the back, and yet he felt so isolated.
