MARK'S POV:

As I closed my eyes, vivid images of our past flooded my mind. I could practically hear the laughter echoing in my ears and see the glimmering starlit skies where we made promises and shared our dreams. Now, those once cherished memories felt like cruel reminders of what was lost. I felt a lump forming in my throat and the sting of tears behind my eyes, but I fought hard to hold them back. Not here, not now.

"Why?" I managed to croak, my voice breaking.”
