For the second time in three months; I find myself a waiting the birth of another prince. My younger brother, Xavier, the prince of the Hell hounds; was the first. The second prince we await on, is the younger brother of my best friend, Gunner. Gunner, is the prince of all shifters. His father Kieran, is known as the Dragon King. I watch as both men pace back and forth with nervousness and excitment.
Kieran stops pacing long enough to fix us each a glass of scotch. I have to admit that nerves are starting to get the best of me too. We have been waiting for news from the doctor for what seems like ages. Everyone that couldn't be here for the birth of the tiny heir text Gunner and I for updates. My mother, Cerberus, impatiently awaits the birth of her best friends first child.
The screams and cries of Yanessa, the Dragon King's, new chosen mate, escalate. The walls and windows of the mansion vibrate with each wail. We hear the doctor and nurses as they count down her next contraction, and remind her to breathe.
"Push! Push! Push!" The nurses encourage her.
"Okay, Yanessa! You're doing great! We can see the head! Your next push will have this little prince in your arms!" The doctor says. And the nurses begin to count down again.
"Push, Yanessa!" The nurses shout again. A scream unlike any I have ever heard shatters the windows of the mansion. It get's very quiet. Gunner and Kieran look at each other with pale faces. And then the most beautiful sound fills the house. The angry cries of the little prince has Kieran running across the house to the stairs. The Dragon King takes the stairs two at a time. Gunner and I cheer him on.
"Congratulations, big brother! Now you will get a taste of my pain. Little brothers are a pain in the ass!" I laugh as I pass him a cigar and pat his back.
"Mine won't be. As a matter of fact; I'm gonna teach him how to whip Xavier's ass!" Gunner exhails a puff of smoke from his cigar.
"Please, there is no way a hybrid shifter will beat a pure bred hell hounds ass!"
"Bet! Put your money where your mouth is." Gunner reaches out to shake on our bet.
"In all my four hundred and twenty-five years in this realm; I've yet to meet a creature that can beat a pure bred hell hound. May the best little brother win." I tell him; giving his hand a firm shake.
Our back and forth banter is cut off when Kieran shouts, "Doc, something is wrong! What's going on?"
"Nurse!" The doctor yells.
"Kieran, I need you to back up! There's another one! Baby number two is on his way!" The doctor and the nurse start telling Yanessa to push once again.
"Never again! Never again will you touch me with that thing!" Yanessa cries. She screams bloody murder and curses the Dragon King for all he's worth.
"Gunner, your father is going to be castrated." I joked, but in all honesty. Yanessa, is the type of woman that will do it. She didn't give a shit who you were, what you were, or what title you held. If you crossed her, you paid the price.
"Xavier, better get off the tit and start training. He's got two of my little brothers to defend himself against."
Our joking a laughter is cut short when things sound like they're becoming hectic upstairs. Gunner's face pales when Kieran yells. "Why is the baby not breathing? Fucking do something!"
"I'm sorry my king! There is nothing more we can do." The doctor cries. Kieran roars and the house shakes as if there were an earthquake. The world stopped spinning. Time stands still. Gunner's eyes become red rimmed. His knees hit the carpet with an audible crack.
Yanessa wails, "My baby is gone! She's gone!"
Gunner punches at the floor until his knuckles are bloody and raw. Kieran and Yanessa's wails filled the house.
"It's not fair!" Gunner cried. And it wasn't. Yanessa had two failed pregnancies. The doctors told her she may never carry a baby to full term since she wasn't the Dragon King's fated mate. She deserved to have both of her babies live. Gunner and Kieran, loved the little prince since they knew he was concieved.
I walked over to the sitting room's door and shut it. Gunner, needed privacy to let out his hurt. I kneeled down next to my friend watching his shaking back as he buried his face in the bloodied carpet. My heart hurt for the parents and my best friend. It hurt for the shifter community. Everyone was excited about the arrival of a new heir.
I placed my hand on Gunner's back trying to console him.
"Guns, I won't pretend to know how you're feeling. I can't imagine how much you're hurting. Let it out now. Because they're going to need you to be the strong one. They will need the future king. They just lost one of thier babies. Neither of them will be in the right head space to make it through this without you."
Gunner pushed himself up and wipe away the tears. I watched as he stormed out of the room. I pulled my phone from my pocket to text my mother and father the horrible news. Then i walked into the kitchen where all the staff waited for orders from the Dragon King or Gunner. Their soft cries and sniffles went straight to my heart.
I then did something I never do. As hell hound I figure it's pointless, but I prayed anyway.
"Everyone, I know it's going to be hard to do today. I know I'm not Gunner or the Dragon King. But I'm going to need you all to get back to work. Make sure they have everything they need or want before they know what it is they need or want. Today, is a sad day for all of us. But it's hell for them." The staff all start to work and I head out the back door.
Three days after the death of the tiny princess we all find ourselves gathered around the cermonial pyre at the shifter compound. Everyone passes Yanessa, Kieran and Gunner giving thier condolences. They drop different kinds and shades of pretty pink flowers around the couffin sitting atop the pyre.
I watched as my mother passed my three month old baby brother off to my father standing next to the Dragon King. Everyone watches as the two best friends hug and cry. Yanessa's wails seemed to have gotten worse with each passing day. But today the world was weeping with her.
What was once a bright sunny day turned dark as night. Rain started softly falling. The loudest thunder seemed to roll across the sky. Lightening began to crack. Yanessa's wails grew over the sounds. My mother held her up as her body began to shake and fall. Lightening began to strike all around us, but no one dared to move. The lightening could strike us all, but we'd stand tall and brave for the tiny princess dressed all in white.
When the lightening begins to strike around the pyre seeming to get closer and closer to the tiny casket; Yanessa looses her shit. Before anyone could stop her; Yaneesa climbs the pyre and holds herself over the casket to block the lightening. Gunner was handed the tiny prince. And Kieran climbs the pyre to retrieve his mate.
"Come on love. It's time to light the pyre." Kieran tells Yanessa. They each place a kiss on the princess's head and Kieran leads her back down to her seat. Gunner passes the tiny prince, Romeo, back to his mother.
Yanessa holds her baby boy close as Waylon the Warlock proceeds with the ceremony. Waylon, places some of the pink flowers in the casket with the baby girl. As he starts to lower the lid a baby begins to softly cry. The lower the lid goes the louder the cry. Tears stream down everyone's faces. I watch Romeo and Xavier the only two babies in the crowd. Both are sound asleep. The cry gets louder and louder. Then a tiny fist shoots up. A tiny foot is the next thing to shoot up.
Everyone is in shock as the tiny princess throws her first tantrum.
"Yanessa! Kieran! Oh great goddess! She's alive!" Waylon shouts with joy. Gunner takes Romeo from Yanessa. Then Yanessa and Kieran are up the pyre. Yanessa takes her tiny baby girl from the casket and holds her close. Tears of sadness turn into tears of joy and relief for some. For others fear shines brightly in their eyes.
Afterall, it's not everyday a baby comes back to life after being dead for three days. Most of the paranormal world would rejoice and celebrate the rebirth of the tiny princess. While some were preparing for the end of days.
After my morning workout; I shower and dress for my appointment with my psychologist. I know what you're thinking. Why does a hybrid paranormal like myself need a psychologist? Easy. My dragon is full of anger, rage and hurt. I'm an emotional mess on my own. But add my empath abilities and your crazy is now part of my crazy too. Plus everyone believes I'm likely to bring about the apocalypse. "You ready to go baby girl?" Blaze my bodyguard asks. "Sure. Don't want to keep the Doc waiting." I tell him as I walk past him in the foyer to grab my purse and jacket. I walk out to the waiting white SUV.The drive is quiet and short. I watch as humans and paranormals walk past the SUV while I wait for Blaze to open my door. Blaze helps me out of the vehicle and escorts me through the lobby of the four story building. We get into the first elevator the doors slide open on. As soon as the elevator doors open on the right floor; we are greeted by a pretty pixie with hot pink lips. "Hello and
My mother looks between the two of us contemplating what she will say. "You are the children of Kieran, one of the original dragon shifters. He's the dragon king. The king of shifters. You're the children of Princess Yanessa of the fae realm. Your grandfather was the first archangel created, and the first fall angel. Lucifer, is the creator and ruler of Hell. Your grandmother is Queen Illianna of the fae realm. It's not just you being a hybrid that makes you unique. It's the fact that you carry all of these royal bloodlines in your veins. You also have the abilities of the fae, angels, and shifters. Most hybrids only carry a few of their parents abilities. But you two can wield them all.""Romeo and I just stared at each other through my mirror. We didn't share our mother's enthusiasm. No matter how she spun it; we were different. Different from the mortals, paranormals, and even the hybrids. No matter what my mother said, we both knew being that different wasn't a good thing. We als
My head hangs in shame. Tears cloud my vision. Then slide down my face. Trent passes me the Kleenex once again. "Remington, it wasn't your fault. The blame lies solely on the three males that attacked two young defenseless dragons."I shake my head. "Tell that to the mother that can barely look at me when she's home! Doc, my mother can't stand to be in the same house as me. She's rarely home. Hell, she bought another house and left my father. So, don't tell me; this wasn't my fault!""Remi, I'm sorry your mother couldn't find another away to deal with her grief and guilt; other than to push you away.""Yeah, well it doesn't matter. Soon I'll be out of my parents hair." "Remi, are you having suicidal thoughts?" "Hell no! Why?""Suicidal thoughts can be a side effect of the medications I prescribed for you.""Well, I don't take that shit anyway.""Remi, at least take the sleeping medication. Your dragon is restless. We don't want her to snap like she did last time.""I'll see you nex
By the time we reach the shifter compound I'm calm. Depression and loneliness seeps into my skin as I look at the huge empty house. During the day the mansion is filled with paras moving about. At night with the exception of security, me, Gunner and my father; this place is a ghost town. Blaze opens my door and helps me out the back of his vehicle. He escorts me to the house and opens the door. I head inside and he follows me to the stairs. "Hey, babygirl." Blaze calls out. "Yeah." "For what it's worth. I feel you." He rubs his hand across his chest. Blaze is a vampire with abilities like mine and Romeo. We aren't your usual empaths. We don't just feel emotions. We can feel the physcial pain of those we love. "And I don't think he's stupid enough to let his fated mate slip through his fingers." I nod my head and continue my trek up the stairs to my bedroom. I let the tears I'd been fighting all night quietly slip free. I was finally alone. Truly alone with the exception of securi
This chapter contains triggers. The male holding me up by the throat just chuckles. I'm lifted into the air and flung across the room like some rag doll. My back hits the wall and crumple to the floor. I ball up into myself. Despire takes hold of me. With the shackles around my wrists; I'm as useless as a mortal against these paras. The spelled handcuffs means no powers and no dragon. Even though I have been training with Gunner, Blaze, and on occassion Aiden; I can't fight my way through this. Not with my hands cuffed behind my back. There's only one thing left to do as I watch the male cross the room towards me. I pray. I pray to all the beings I know of to pray to. They didn't help me last time. But hopefully I have proven myself to be a good girl, and they help me this time. This time like last; I would have to such luck. I'm yanked off the floor and thrown at another wall. I hit the wall next to Blaze. When I look up; a male with a golden tooth smiles down at me. The smile is
Aiden's eyes never leave mine. I swear I see tears linger on his bottom eyelashes. But that could just be death playing tricks on me. "Remi!" My father's pain filled voice sounds a million miles away. "You're a dead motherfucker!" My father shouts coming closer into the room. Faces turn pale as Gold tooth raises up off of me. "Kieran, how nice of you to finally join us. Me, the princess, and the boys were just having a little fun while we waited for you." Gold tooth says as he yanks the angel blade from my thigh. Blaze and I scream in pain. My father shoots, but before his bullet meets its mark; Gold tooth lodges the blade into my stomach. I cry out, but no sound escapes my lips. Blaze lets out a blood curling roar. I don't move. I can't. Blood no longer bubbles out of me. Now it's just a trickle. I watch Gold tooth's body hit the floor. Then I close my eyes willing death to take me now. Aiden, apologizes for the pain he is causing me as he rips the knives from my body. I can't a
"Remi, will heal after a few shifts. However, there will be some nasty scars. We did the best we could. But the damage was inflicted by an angel blade. There's just nothing medically we can do about that." The doctor tells someone on the other side of my room door. My father curses under his breath. "There's more Kieran. And either you can tell her. Or I will. I'll let that decision be made by you. But this is something Remington needs to know. It's not something she will want to hear. She may not be worried about it now. But eventually when she finds her fated mate; it will make a difference. This will impact her life greatly.""Just fucking spit it out already." Gunner and my father growl. "Remington, will not be able to have children. Her body wasn't prepared for what happened to it. Between multiple rapes and the angel blade lodged into her lower abdomen; there was some damage to her uterus. There's major scarring. We did the best we could to keep scarring to a minimal amount,
When we pull up to the metal gates of the clubhouse; three big hellhounds come out of the security box. They slowly walk up to Xavier's truck. My heart is pounding. What if they don't want me here? Could I blame them? The answer is no. "Sup, Rampage." The one they call Trojan asks using Xavi's hellhound's name. It also happens to be his road name. "I see you got the package. Open up boys, let them in." Trojan tells the other two. I watch as they push the gates open. Xavier drives down the narrow gravel drive way until it opens up to the paved parking lot of the clubhouse. Cerberus is waiting at the door for us with two other members of the MC. Xavier hops out of his truck and runs around to help me down. The other two members start grabbing my stuff. "What room are we putting this stuff in, Cera?" One of them asks as he picks up two giant flower arrangements. "Rage's room. Where else?" Cerberus shakes her head as she pulls me into her arms."I'm so glad I get to see that beautiful
