My cheek stung badly, my eyes in appall, trying to fathom what I did that he raised his hand against me. He never did it and the fact he did.

Meaning I must have fucked up badly.

“Robert! You can’t hit our daughter!” Mother shouted, pushing Father away from me.

I remained stunned, touching my cheek to feel the sting, not moving an inch along with a prick.

“Why can’t I after what she had done!? What am I going to tell anyone!?” He yelled, losing his breaths.

His eyes were widened. I had never seen him frightened, he was afraid, breathless with a tear in his eyes.

“Do you have any idea what they will do to her now!?” He yelled again to which I flinched.

My heart skipped a beat, I gulped hard, shaking in fear.

“Father, I am sorry, I don’t know what I have done but please forgive me.” I whispered in a broken tone, removing my hands.

He paused and brought his hand cupping the cheek he hit, caressing it to lessen the pain, emitting compassion.
