Cara's POV

Trees passed by me in a blur as I pushed my four legs to go even faster. I needed to get to my mate before those fuckers really hurt him. Wildlife scurried out of my way as I hurriedly dashed past. Little droplets of snow were beginning to appear on my fur and the chilly winter wind was blowing hard against them.

My paws dug deeper into the moist earth with every step I took towards the unknown location. I couldn't get any scent, so my wolfy ears stood out on the top of my head, trying to pick on any strange sound.

Earlier, I had gone up to our room in the pack house to confront Athena...or whoever she had become now. I went there, growling and baring my fangs in threats, only to find out that my mate wasn't there with her. She had him tied to a tree in the woods. He was shirtless, cold and looking barely conscious.

"How long do you think an ordinary human would be able to withstand such conditions." She smirked at me as she held out a tablet with the picture of my mate.
