A looming disaster

Kira's POV

I panted slowly, sitting on the ground while squeezing out the water bottle content like my life depended on it. I had worked myself out a bit too much this morning. Xander and Miguel were having some sort of business meeting, and he had only warmed me up a little before heading back to the office.

Initially, I would have acted a bit lazy like my usual self. But I just couldn't find it in me to laze out. My dad had ignited the protective and vicious spirit in me. He was awake now and back to his feet after such long, horrifying months. Instead of staying put, he had jumped on the pack duties and had begun riding around in the same tool that almost took his life.

I'm so confused I have no idea what I am to do next, how do I tell him that my friend is plotting against him? I don't know who I can go to for help, I need someone who can convince my dad to keep his head and also help me flip Leila off my back.
