Serenade me

Xander's POV

I was worried to death when I saw Carl on the bed, looking lifeless. Miguel had called in the hospital to send an ambulance. Turns out he is actually down with a fever, it's rare for a werewolf to have a fever and pass out that easily. There has to be some underlying ailment. The doctor didn't say anything until Carl was resuscitated.

“What's wrong with him?” I asked the doctor, Kira and Miguel stood behind me.

The doctor sighed, my heart paced at the thought of him saying something scary. “He is fatigued and hasn't been sleeping well. From the look of it, there was a lot on his mind, which was why the fever leeched onto him easily. He would only recover fully when his mind is at peace. Please excuse me.”

I turned to Miguel, “A lot on his mind? How is that even possible?”

Miguel looked just as perplexed as I was, “I wouldn't know either, Carl is always active. He gyms every morning, cooks, and works at the bar, so swiftly you would never envision him being worried.”
