Chapter 83: I found her

"Come in."

Aiden answered the knock at the door. The door of his study was pried open, bringing in the faint smell of spices as Aunt Rina came in.

Out of respect, Aiden rose to his feet, signaling Rina to use the seat across from him. Reluctantly, she walked over and settled in.

"I wanted to speak with you," Rina began in a choked voice. She had spent hours crying over the sudden disappearance of her niece.

"Go ahead."

There was a long period of silence. Rina sat, gathering the courage to talk to the man the entire city feared. "I know we had a deal before, and perhaps you see my daughter as nothing except a plea deal."

He gnashed his teeth. "I don't."

This reply earned a forced smile from Rina. She opened her phone, staring at a photo of Elsie, which happened to be her wallpaper. It was taken back when Elsie was at the Dale's. She had that innocent look in her eyes, which made everyone do a double-take.
