Chapter 74

Delilah's POV:

As the silhouette jumped into the room, I hurried and crawled behind the bed. Bringing up my knees, I hid my face behind them and slowed down my breathing.

My gut coiled with fear as I heard footsteps getting closer and closer. Fat, hot tears lined my eyelashes but I didn't dare make any noise. I stayed as still as I could until...until I felt a heavy hand landing on my shoulder.

I squeaked sharply as my head jerked upward. I couldn't see in this dark but I could feel the touch. It was nothing harsh or hideous like before. Instead, it was gentle and soothing which had Akira perked up in my mind.

The room reeked of that rotten smell so badly that it was impossible to smell any other scent but this close, I could differentiate his scent.

Heart-wrenching sobs left me as he rushed forward and then the room illuminated. In the next moment, Xee was kneeling in front of me. He gripped my shoulders and said with urgency, "What happened here? Are you okay?"
