Ella's POV

Kevin was here. Kevin wanted to buy me back. Lucy, can you hear that?

Yes, I can. Now answer the count before he flips out. He looks ready to kill the two of us this minute.

I was too touched to respond—that must be one hell of money and he was willing to spend it to get me free—but Lucy was right. The count looked mad enough to snap my neck off in a second if I refuse to answer on time.

His teeth was bared at me and he leaned forward on his chair, sucking his breath in in a hiss as he grabbed the arms of the chair so intensely that the veins on his hand flexed. They looked like they were going to pop.

I shivered. A bit. I had never seen him look that way and I was afraid of him. I would have run out of the room if I wasn't a werewolf and could defend myself in a fight.

He wasn't the only one who looked scary. The man with him looked amused as he stared at me and then back at the count. He didn't seem threatening but he barely put my mind at ease.
