Kevin's POV

I had known there was no way we wouldn't fight with those human vermin but had hoped that we could avoid it.

I was ready though. And so were my men.

"Stealing her right under my nose?" The count scowled as he walked into the field.

"I don't have to steal what belongs to me." I retorted.

"She is mine. I bought her." He growled.

I scoffed. "She is mine. I claimed and marked here."

"That is your tradition. It doesn't apply here." He said, his usual annoying smirk on his face. "What matters here is what is on the record. I bought her with my money and she belongs to me."

I rolled my eyes, done with the unnecessary chitchat but didn't want to charge first. I knew me and my men would finish them off in minutes and wanted to be fair and give him a memory to stroke his ego with.
