CHAPTER 69: Persistent hitch

Cassius’ POV

“I need to see Maximus. Tell him to come to the palace.” I ordered Landon, who bowed slightly in submission and walked out of the palace.

It’s been two days since Selene and Garret were hanged at the center of the pack house. I am now left alone without a Luna and a beta.

I have ordered Maximus to be released from the dungeon since I found out that he didn’t commit the crime he was accused of. I just need to make amends and plead with him about not trusting him enough, even though we were somewhat close back then.

“My Alpha,” he bowed his head with his hands clasped behind his back.

“Sit,” I said softly, pointing to a couch across from me. And he sat without hesitation.

“Max” is the short form of his name and what my father and I always call him. He raised his head as he heard me call him.

“My alpha,” he responded.

“I am sorry for everything. I meant everything that happened. For not hearing your side of the story and all.”
