CHAPTER 32

ANNA

I dropped my glasses from my eyes and stretched my back, getting a good pop. I sighed and swiveled away from the microscope I had been staring into for the past 3 hours.

"Any diagnosis?" Doctor Phil came up to me holding two steaming Styrofoam cups, which he handed one to me.

I shook my head and took a small sip of the coffee. "None."

He sat down on the stool beside me and peered at my worksheet. He had warmed up to me since last night after knowing that I was a prestigious doctor too.

"See here," he said, pointing at one of the zoomed-in printed blood samples showing the microbes. "We think that this is the virus causing the sickness," His fingers were pointed to a grotesque shape in the picture. "That is the only unexplainable thing that we found in all the infected blood samples."

I nodded in agreement.

"But this strange virus isn't just attaching itself to a normal cell that I know," he continued after another sip of his coffee, giving him a foam mustache. "The virus is attac
