16. Finding Warmth At Last

April's POV

I walked down the street to the carpentry shop. There was no way I would sleep with my door broken down like that. I had to go and buy some hinges and try and get the door in order.

I got to the shop and immediately went down the aisles, looking for what I wanted. The entire time, I could only think about Dorian. I had made up my mind to reject him and resist him, but there was no way that he was going to make it easy for me. He was a monster.

I also tried to get the thought of the kiss out of my head, but I just couldn't. Every now and then, I would touch my lips with my fingers, and the thought would spring into my head.

Finally, I found the hinges, and I picked about four of them, along with some screws and nails, and headed to the counter.

I got there, and it was empty, and I began to ring the small bell on the counter. Almost instantly, an old man came in from the inner room and as soon as he looked at me, his mouth fell wide open.
